Our Rescue of the Week is Maui, a 5-year old French bulldog in Southern California who was surrendered to French Bulldog Village through no fault on his own.

Here's an intro to Maui...from Maui himself:

"I am you're typical Frenchie in that sometimes I get itchy ears. I used to get ear infections but cleaning my ears really helps so I will need your help in keeping an eye on my ears!

Just to make sure I didn't have any long-lasting issues from my ear infections, I had imaging done and it didn't show any long-term damage! Woohoo! What they did find was I had 10 abscessed teef! 10 of my teef had to be removed. Boy, do I feel better!

I now love food. I weigh 21 lbs. I don't guard my food at all and even like having meals with my foster fur friends. I learned that I get my food faster when I sit for my food as opposed to jumping.

Speaking of friends, I have met so many new ones. I like men and women. I've only been around kiddos over 12. I say I like kiddos over 12 because when playing and meeting people, I sometimes forget my manners and nibble. I don't want to scare anyone, so it is probably best I am around kiddos that are dog savvy and over 12. My foster family thinks my previous family may have let me play bite. I am working on my manners for this.

I haven't really been around other types of animals like cats or squirrels so I am not sure what I would do around them. I love to play. If there is another doggy in the house, that would be cool. I do tend to prefer female dogs over the males though. I also get super excited to see other doggies on my walks. Sometimes I forget and pull on my leash.

I like to be around my humans but also don't mind my crate for a few hours. I have been known to show off my climbing and jumping skills when it comes to baby gates. I really should have participated in the last summer Olympics. I would have run away with the gold medal. Can you imagine a French Bulldog winning gold in High Jump and Vaulting?

Something I am not great at.... well, I like to p*e in my crate. Even if I just came in from outside. I now have a belly band on when I am crated. I'm housebroken but there is just something about my crate. If I could sleep with you, that would be great. So far, I have not had a single accident when I'm in bed with my humans.

I AM THE DESTROYER OF ALL STUFFED ANIMALS! I am actually undefeated. I will chase balls, chew on my Kong and rip the heads off any stuffed animal I can find! It's a blast! I hold the world record from purchased to destroyed when it comes to toys.

I like to have people home. If you could work from home so we can play and take walks, that would be totally awesome. Maybe I could even sunbathe on the Lanai.
