In 2018,Taka was badly injured in a
house fire in Martinez, GA. He has deep scars on his
face and back, and large parts of his fur are burned off.
But that doesn't stop him from living a full life.

After Taka recovered, his owner, Chrystal Lesley,
enrolled him for training to become a therapy dog for
burn victims in a local burn center. Even though he is 9
years old, he was accepted.

"I'm very proud of him," she says. "He's a very good dog.'

Quick Jinny update:

The vet sent us this photo last night of Jinny just after enjoying a bath. Dr. Huang said that Jinny is a very gentle dog, which makes it much easier for us to rehome her. She's anaemic, but that is easily rectified with a healthy raw diet with red meat and organ such as liver. She will probably be released from the hospital tomorrow.

And here's the best bit: we have already found Jinny a great foster home! So this little girl's luck just keeps on coming. We're very happy for her.

Another kind American lady has asked if she can adopt Jinny once the young stray is ready. While we don't do overseas adoptions as a rule, the potential adopter has plenty of experience with Taiwan tugous (also sometimes called Formosan mountain dogs), which is exactly what Jinny would need. She has never cared for a canine amputee before but will be very happy to learn.

So we're giving it serious consideration, especially as we currently have no space for Jinny. What do you think? If Jinny moves to the States, do you think we could raise the funds for her flight?
