This is unacceptable. 😭💔

This is not the post we were wanting to share this morning. Sadly last night we had to make the hard decision to let Petra go. She was not responding to the antibiotics and high flow O2. The first x ray we posted was from 12pm yesterday and they did another at 6pm which was already much worse. The vet added some additional meds and we weren't ready to give up. Around 10pm the vet called and said she was still not responding and her lab values were declining. They said she had ARDS and septic bacterial pneumonia from aspiration, most likely hospital acquired from where she was hospitalized at They said even if she was transferred again to another vet and put on a ventilator that she had less than a 30% chance of survival and that the Parvo had just completely wrecked her immune system. So we made the humane choice to not let this sweet girl suffer anymore. Please say a prayer for her and know that she was loved even if only for a very short time. RIP sweet girl ❤❤❤❤❤

We do adopt nationwide but in most cases require adopters to travel to the foster home with their current dog/dogs (to ensure they will be friends) to pick up.

Anyone can say they are an animal rescue but it doesn’t mean they’re doing it for the right reasons, or doing what is best for the animals. Never forget this - there are situations far worse than death, and we’ve seen one too many “rescues” put helpless animals in worse situations. Inexcusable and disgusting. That’s not rescue.

This post is going to upset many, but sometimes that is needed to make a change.
We all know the crisis that is occurring with Animal Welfare. Rescues are full and unable to pull from shelters, which causes overpopulation in shelters leading to euthanasia of completely healthy dogs. We know spaying or neutering dogs will help, but that isn’t what this post is about. This post is about rescues pulling more dogs than they can accommodate to get dogs removed from the euthanasia list, or to get the pledges from donors.
Rescue requires a good balance of intake, adoptions and financials. Lately, many rescues are only focusing on intake and dogs are spending months, even years, in boarding or caged because they have no place to put them. Is that really rescue?
At some point, this will come to an end and the truth surfaces about rescues not providing mental and physical stimulation, or medical care the dogs need. This leaves most of the dogs that were “rescued” in worse shape than before their intake date.
We admire everyone is rescue as it isn’t for the weak. What we don’t admire is the lack of control and balance that leads to dogs suffering in the hands of a rescue. That gives reputable rescues a bad name.
Please do your research on the rescues you support to ensure they are making the lives of dogs better, which is what rescue is all about. More is not always better.

Please share Bonnie! She is such a love!! ❤️

This beautiful girl continues to wait for her forever home - so sad. Her foster mom writes:

Bonnie is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever fostered. Everyone that has met her has fallen in love with her. She is a cuddle bug and a velcro dog. All she wants to do is be with her human.

She enjoys dog chews, toys, and treats but her favorite thing in the world is attention from her human. She loves men, women, and kids. She is always happy, gentle, and appropriately behaved with whomever she meets. She walks well on a leash and really enjoys walking in the park. Bonnie loves car rides. She gets in the car well on her own, but is a little afraid when jumping out, probably due to her vision impairment. She is calm in the car and always falls asleep.

She has done great with other dogs she has met in my home and at the shelter. However, she needs a patient dog because due to the lack of vision in her right eye, she tends to bump into other dogs when walking or playing. She seems to really enjoy following my dog around the yard and just doing whatever he is doing.

Bonnie is a medium energy dog. She is very playful with other dogs and is also very vocal in her play. She doesn't always pick up on social cues from other dogs, but she does take corrections well. We would prefer for Bonnie to go to a home with another dog friendly dog. She loves the companionship and playtime with other dogs. She would not do well as an only dog.

All in all, Bonnie is a wonderful, intelligent, social dog. She has so much love to give and is so deserving of a forever family that will return that love.

If you can give the perfect home to Bonnie, please complete the application at the following link:

EDIT: A HUGE thank you to our friends at Magdrl: the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc for being Arlo’s miracle and taking him into their care. He has a long road ahead of him but we know it’ll be worth it. We miss you already buddy!! ❤️❤️❤️

Arlo needs a miracle.

He has been on and off again homeless for over a year now, and we can tell he is tired of it. He needs someone committed to helping us save his life. Someone committed to training him. Someone committed to loving him.

Arlo is not a bad dog. He’s just a baby who has been given up on over and over again. He needs time and patience. We know he isn’t meant for every household, but we know his angel is out there. No dog should live their life in a cage, much less one his size.

Be Arlo’s angel. Apply to meet him today.
