At BackCountry Basics we break camping down to get kids off the couch and feeling confident in the campsite. We bring the learning to you! Round up the kids and their friends for a session of fun while acquiring applicable skills right in your own backyard. Our primary focus is to create a level of self-reliance through teaching skills such as basic first aid and responsibility to themselves and t
heir natural environment. No prior camping knowledge necessary! Sessions run approximately 2 hours. Ages 8-18 welcome. Students will be taught:
-Basic first aid
-How to sterilize drinking water
-How to light a campfire (hands on exercise)
-How to set up a tent and prepare for sleep (hands on exercise)
-How to cook on a campfire (hands on exercise)
*Hot dogs and marshmallows will be provided for a group meal, or you may choose to provide your own. At the end of each course students will receive a complimentary Camping Checklist for future use, a BackCountry Badge signifying their new skill sets, and an opportunity to have their name added to BackCountry Basics’ “Skilled Members” list featured on the page.
