Our volunteers had a great/freezing🥶 morning learning from our trainer, Ashley, about how she assesses a horse both on the ground and under saddle. It was also our first time riding 🐴PIPER🐴! We had no idea how it was going to go - OTTB + cold + windy… It could have gone so many different ways 😬 but it went GREAT! Note that Ashley rode Piper at W/T in a *halter only*!

🐴OUTLAW🐴 is ready for his forever home!
Outlaw is a 16h, 2004 bay registered Thoroughbred gelding who never raced. This guy is 🤩AWESOME🤩! Outlaw is easy-going, sweet, and playful. He’s a pretty easy keeper and doesn’t require any extra maintenance. He stands well for everything - haltering, grooming, tacking, mounting, vet, farrier, blanketing, fly spray - you name it. Outlaw has been out of work for at least a few years and will need consistent work at the walk/trot to help him build muscle. UTD on Coggins, vaccines, float, and farrier.
Outlaw is currently relearning how to focus on his rider instead of the ground handler. He is smooth-gaited and collected. He seems most comfortable in a round pen under saddle for the time being. He was most comfortably ridden in an English saddle due to his high withers.
Outlaw would probably be best pastured with other geldings. His playfulness comes out with his herd mates, though he’s respectful when they tell him off.

Check out 🐴BONNIE🐴 free lunging! This mare has the cutest trot!
Bonnie is a 14 hh, 21-year old non-gaited Mountain Pleasure Horse cross with a great WTC. She is a 🤩superstar🤩 for grooming, hoof care, and hand walking! Bonnie hasn’t been ridden consistently in quite a few years, but she has done great on lead line and still has a lot of potential. Bonnie has a slight aversion to being saddled, but we’ve learned that she’s much better if it’s done calmly and gently. Makes sense, right?
Bonnie will do best with a small rider - up to 120 lbs for now, moving up to 150 as she gets back in shape. She’ll need an intermediate rider, but she’d also be great as a child’s pet with adult supervision if saddling.
