I have a new whip! Mahm and I started training today and she said I did a really good job and that we are practicing now to be ready for the future. (I’ll do anything for 🍪 and🥕🤣) And….let’s be honest. I make this cart look gooooood. 😎 🤣❤️

Hello, friends! Over the past 4 months or so our family had started to notice that Daphne was having increased issues with her hind legs on the plank floors in our home. She would slip occasionally. We took her to the doctor who told us it could be her hips so we started meds and therapy (again) to see if there was any improvement. Recently she has started to drag her hind legs until she can get her footing. She stands with her feet close together or really wide apart and it seems that it doesn’t take much to knock her over or trip over herself. We put down some extra runners and tried booties to give her some grip on the floors. But it has been slowly getting worse so I decided to take her to the vet to reevaluate her situation. This time the doctor said that Daphne has some neurological changes in her hind legs and suggested we get a DNA test done for DM, a canine form of ALS, so we did just that. The results came back that she has two copies of the gene. While there is no one test for DM, the doctor is confident that DM is the probable cause of Daphne’s issues, along with whatever arthritis she already has from the past. We are crushed. But Daphne is in the very early stages and is happy and lively, chasing lizards in the yard and being her normal goofy self. In fact, if you saw her out on walkies or playing in the yard you’d never know is anything was wrong. It’s been suggested to us by several doctors and friends who have had their own journeys with DM that we get Daphne a cart sooner than later while she still has mobility so that she can adapt to the cart more easily, Also, therapy can help slow the progression so that will also be part of our plan. Regular exercise and keeping her trim will also be beneficial. We are going to give Daphne everything she needs to give her a fighting chance to live a long, happy Corgi life, full of the love and care that the best girl deserves. We are going to document our journey to share with our followers as we navigate the unknowns of this terrible disease. In the meantime, the girls will continue to make you smile with their antics and shenanigans. ☺️
