This is real. A dog in southern Colo was recently diagnosed as well. Very serious because rabies is virtually 100% fatal (as I know all too well from my visits to Africa) Scary thought.

A skunk found in the foothills area of unincorporated Jefferson County has tested positive for rabies. This is the first animal to test positive for rabies in Jefferson County in 2019. The rabies virus is deadly so make sure your pets are up to date on their vaccinations. Foothills Animal Shelter hosts a vaccine clinic every Friday afternoon, bring your pets in and keep everyone safe!
