With every rescue, comes a possibility of failure. This week, out of 27 we lost 2 beautiful souls. Rest in peace, Sid the pigeon and Puffball the robin...You still found your wings, just not in the way that we all hoped....💔

Sid had been malnourished and had declined quite drastically. Tests were done, and unfortunately there was nothing we could do, we only had hope on our side. We took drastic measures and provided as much intensive care (tube feeding, bathing, meds rounds etc) as we could. However Sid sadly didn't make it.

Puffball the robin was very vocal, and quite fiesty upon assessment however declined rapidly. It I sad how quickly cat saliva can kill, and sometimes antibiotics don't work fast enough....

Fly free, you beautiful angels 🕊🥺

Got brought in a baby Robin! Very active and loud, with no visible injuries. Was found near two of its siblings (both sadly didn't make it).

Well, Puffball (a.k.a Puffy) seems to have a lot of fight in him, and has settled quite nicely 😍😊

We are appealing to anyone who would like to adopt a pet pigeon! A lady has 12 pigeons that are at risk of being culled and cannot bring them with her to her new home.

Please share wherever possible!!

This is Sid!

He has joined us on a journey to recovery!! It is suspected that he has neurological problems so he will need a forever home as with his condition he is unreleasable.

We will keep him quarantined for 3 months, run some tests and get him fattened up! He's very underweight, so slow and steady does it.

Sid the little fighter ❤🥰

We usually don't like asking for help, as we are aware that everyone is struggling with cost of living and the chaos of us all just getting by....but, we are kindly asking for help! And donations would be greatly appreciated, as the numbers of birds we take in have skyrocketed this year!!

We accept any donation, big or small (material donation is preferred)
- Old newspapers
- Cardboard boxes (we line cages with them)
- Plastic tupperware
- Spare cages or cat carriers you might have
- Seed?
- Puppy pads?

Thank you for any and all contributions to our rescue project! It means a lot!

This one came in from vets , some nice person poured petrol on him, he is doing well and having regular baths x

We are experiencing a high amount of messages recently! We may be a little bit slower at replying but we will get back to you as soon as possible! Also, we do encourage tagging our page in other groups, pages and profiles as that means we are able to provide more timely responses with advice and guidance directly to the rescuer/finder! So thank you!!

- If you find an injured bird please try to contain it in a box (with holes) or a cat carrier. Do not give it food or water until we have done a full assessment.

- If a bird has flown into a window, wall, or any object please contain the bird in a box (with holes to breathe) and ensure it is away from loud noises and other animals/pets. Do NOT feed or give it water when the bird is concussed. It should be okay within 24 hours. If the condition doesn't improve after that time then give us a shout!

- It has been HOT and temperatures seem to be on the high right now so PLEASE, PLEASE, give our garden birds shallow dishes filled with water (preferably on ledges or on higher up surfaces, but also please do place some on the ground too, for the foraging wildlife!)

- It's almost the end of nesting season for most birds but if you are unsure whether a bird needs help just send us a message with a video and or photo of the bird and we can decide the best course of action!

- Remember,: we specialise in pigeon and dove rehabilitation and rescue, however, we also take care of garden birds such as blackbirds, t**s, finches, wrens, thrushes, corvid species (magpies, jackdaws, crows, eurasian jays, etc), robins, starlings, swifts, swallows and many more.

If you need any advice, do not hesitate!

On a side note: if you do require advice or assistance or for us to take a bird in, please include a photo or video of the bird, location and a short summary of the condition and species of the bird (where possible).

We do NOT currently have means of travel, so if you can bring it to us, we will gladly help!

All donations go straight back into veterinary care, food, medication and resources (such as puppy pads, food, bowls, cages etc)

Thank you!!

It's a bittersweet moment. I'm sad to see her go, gonna miss the 24/7 chirping and her bubbly personality but I'm so proud of how far she's come! The way she flew off into the distance, remembering our little flight training sessions...that was a very proud moment of mine.

You have grown so much, and brought so much hope and happiness! They say swifts and swallows are the first signs of spring (a.k.a new beginnings). Well you certainly brought that with you!

See you in 3 years time Sally!! 🥰

Sally the swift is now gaining quite a bit of weight and attempting flight (she flew 2 metres towards me today). She's loud, very active and eats a LOT...😅. Not long now until her release! It's going to be amazing, and a little sad, I'll miss her but I know she will come back in 3 years time!

I'm honestly so upset to see individuals commenting some awful things with regards to wildlife in pages dedicated to Ipswich and Suffolk. We have been tagged in a lot of posts with genuine and kind hearted people asking for help when dealing with injured or distraught birds/wildlife...and I find that so heartwarming!

But there have been some absolutely awful messages in the comments section by some individuals like "ring its neck, it won't survive anyway" and "kill it" etc. Honestly we need to show more compassion.

If you do see such comments on other pages, Please, please, PLEASE ignore them, report them and just tag us in wildlife related posts. We will try our hardest to help or direct the rescuer in the right direction 🥰.

And...to the kind hearted people who make an effort (even if it is just an inquiry or asking for help on a page), thank you for going out of your way and making our world a better place 💖🦆🕊🦅🦢🐓🦤🐦. You are amazing!!

From just a small little crumb to a fully fledged swift! It seems like I will be having to plan the release date soon, which will be a little sad but so rewarding. We don't normally get swifts handed to us so it's always a special little adventure when we do get one or two in. Last time I hand reared one must have been Trixie the swift back in 2018.

Fun fact(s):
1. Swifts mate for life
2. They are social birds and get quite lonely and depressed if separated from their flock.
3. Swifts can live up to 21 years of age, however the average is 5 and a half years.
4. They're extremely loyal to their nesting site coming to nest throughout the course of their lives.
5. Swifts spend the first 3 years of their life on wing (without landing even once), this includes eating, drinking, sleeping and even mating in flight! They only land to nest and raise their young.
6. Swifts are insectivores and eat solely bugs and flies throughout their lives
7. They migrate to Africa for winter, leaving UK around August. Swifts migrate 3,400 miles twice a year.
8. Swifts can reach speeds of 69 mph
9. Adult swifts eat around 20, 000 insects a day. Yep, twenty thousand.
10. Swifts are not related to martins or swallows. The closest genetic relations are to hummingbirds.

It's been a rewarding couple of weeks with Sally the swift. Seeing her grow and her bringing me motivation to get up early in the morning just to feed her (especially when depression gets a grip on me a little) has been amazing. I watched her grow up from this tiny little crumb to a fully fledged swift. She gave me so much inspiration. Soon I'll be releasing her back into the wild, and honestly, it will be a little bit lonely without her but she has brought so much joy into our lives. She brought back the passion I have for my rescue & rehabilitation work, so Sally thank you!!

You're one heck of a miracle 🥰

Unrelated post to birds, but I feel like I need to write this tribute to my beloved pet.

Today, at 16:27 marks another year without you, Norge. Just 2 years old when cancer took you away from me. It's been 7 years without you, and not a day goes by that I don't think of you 💔❤

Kirsty Mclure and Sharon Adams I am pleased to inform that the seagull juvenile (Sid no.2) is eating without assistance now and has started to regain balance. He even tried to fly! He's got 3-4 weeks more before I can confidently release but he's making amazing progress!!

I am appaled that one of our so called pigeon lovers had clipped the wing feathers of our 4 pigeons rescues whom she ADOPTED. It's actually disgusting. And when I called Karina out on her behaviour she blocked our page... I can't believe people still treat birds like toys and not actual living beings 😔

Nevermind, we now have 4 beautiful pigeons in our care and 1 less monster on our page x

We now have got a young juvenile herring gull in our care thanks to the awesome help from Kirsty and Sharon (Thank you so much for helping!!!). We're doing some final check overs and it appears to have a minor fracture on the leg and a head concussion, hence difficulty balancing. We will monitor the rescue (named Sid number 2) and will update progress after 24 hours! 😀

Did take a couple approaches but over all the rescue mission has successfully come to a close. This pigeon, lovingly named Pidge by Ipswich hospital staff, has presented with inability to fly and had been residing on the roof for around 2 weeks. Staff at Ipswich hospital had looked after him - giving water and food whilst also seeking help from RSPCA who refused.

After catching, containing and later examining the pigeon we discovered he has a dislocated shoulder which caused him difficulties that led to malnutrition. Fortunately, thanks to everyone who fed, gave him water and also made attempts to find help (before ultimately reaching us) has now helped give this one a second chance at life. The recovery seems to be a quick and straight forward one!!

Thank you 🥰
