Some bunnies think it's funny to toss a pellet dish into the water every night after they empty it. We did try replacing the metal dishes with heavy ceramic dishes but these ones they smash. We are on the lookout for heavy unbreakable dishes. Of course they also like adding toys, hay and other assorted objects to their water too.

Y’all, say happy birthday to the Rancher Advocacy Program. We have been running this program for 6 years!

When I first went vegan on my husband’s cattle ranch, I was fixated on saving our cows. I had no idea where this journey would lead me- I just knew I had to save the cows.

After doing just that and continuing to rescue all kinds of farmed animals facing slaughter, our story started getting picked up by media outlets who wanted to know why in the heck would a cattle ranching couple in Texas go vegan and convert to a sanctuary? This attention helped spread awareness of our mission around the globe.

Being where we are in Texas, we have close, intimate contact with folks in the cattle industry. We started hearing from all kinds of people who had fallen in love with an animal, who were questioning what they were doing and what their families had sometimes been doing for generations. They wanted help, they wanted answers and they wanted out.

I started the Rancher Advocacy Program to help these ranchers by providing information, networking and funding to transition out of animal agriculture. We also lobbied in D.C. for farm transition subsidies and hosted an annual summit to connect the brightest minds in the farm transition space.

After 6 years, we have shifted from direct action to education and awareness-raising after facing unforeseen setbacks. We must change our archaic government. Private funding is unsustainable and most farmers are in tremendous debt. Moving forward, we will continue to work behind the scenes providing people who want to get out of animal ag with information and educational resources as well as promoting the direct action of other farm transition organizations.

I’m so proud of what we have accomplished and what we will continue to do in the future to help move our food system away from the exploitation of sentient beings and towards plant based agriculture. Happy birthday to RAP!

RAP stands for the abolition of animal bo***ge and exploitation and the necessary transition to a plant-based food system. Make the change today. Go vegan for the animals, support plant-based agriculture.

Maude and Stanley are having a nap together because it's just too hot to go outside. Maude is an Angora lop with a lot of fur so we have to make extra sure she stays cool. Stanley, the tiny dwarf rabbit, feels safe and content being Maude's pillow, as they enjoy their peaceful nap.

Synchronized Nose Twitching should take center stage at the Bunny Olympics! A competition like no other, it would leave spectators on the edge of their seats gasping in awe!

Well, maybe not, but they're pretty adorable.

There's always a mad rush to be among the first to get outside in the morning.

Quebec has banned ear and tail docking, cat declawing, euthanasia by inhalation, leashing an animal without a collar, mating animals whose sizes are incompatible and feeding meat to pet pigs.

Sadly these bans only apply to "pets" while farmers can still inflict horrific procedures on cows, pigs, chickens and other animals raised in animal agriculture.

Grass is healthier for rabbits than hay and just as good at wearing down their teeth. You wouldn't serve dried salad to your family. Fresh grass and veggies are the healthiest option for your rabbit. Drying grass to make hay is just a convenient way to store grass and, if your rabbits don't have access to fresh grass, hay is the next best option.

Look at grass under the microscope to see how its structure helps to wear down rabbit's teeth and prevent dental disease.

The British Columbia government is making changes to family law to recognize that animal companions are not objects, they are family members:

"On Jan. 15, changes from the first phase concerning companion animals come into effect to better help people determine ownership and possession of companion animals following a separation or divorce."

Changes coming into effect Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, will reduce some of the difficulties for families going through separation or divorce in B.C., including those with pets.
