Oh sweet Bella. The 30-year-old umbrella Cockatoo. She has two eyes, but only one of them functions. Unfortunately the noise finally got to be too much for her owners and here she is. The trauma to the eye is something that happened to her years ago and has thus far not been an issue. we will have the eye checked out and of course a conplete workup for her before she goes up for adoption, but please keep an eye out for this special needs, sweetheart. While she is fully flighted, she does not have the ability to fly due to her eye.

Story time.
There was once a bird named buddy. He lived very happily in his home until his human parents could no longer care for him due to unforeseen circumstances. They looked all over and found a couple to adopt buddy. Buddy happily lived there for the next 10 years. Unfortunately, something changed , and Bud became aggressive towards his adoptive parents. Doing what they thought was best, they reached out to buddies Original Owner , whose circumstances have not changed, and she was unable to take him back. Upon hearing this the current owners said if you know anybody who can take him, let us know. His Original Owner reached out to us and we said yes we could happily help you. I did advise her, that she should reach out immediately to the current owners and let them know. Luckily, she did and found out that the current owners had already made arrangementsto have Bud euthanized. Luckily, she was able to talk them out of the euthanasia and off to the upper reaches of Connecticut, we went. We were able to pick him up the next day, today. But moral of the story, is just because your bird is aggressive with you does not mean that somebody else wouldn’t be able to work with them. Before thinking about euthanasia or giving the bird to somebody off the street, please contact Rescue so your bird has the best chance of finding a forever home.

Please bear with us. We recently had our emails hacked. Along with that came a hack of our bank account. Our website was also effected. The good news is our bank was able to catch it and we are in the process of getting our funds back. Our website still needs some work but will hopefully be back to fully functioning shortly. If you’ve been trying to contact us via the adoption applications, surrender applications or just general contract we likely did not get it. If you need us directly you can always give us a call 732–5 85–5559. You can get us Monday through Friday from 12 noon through 8 PM as well as Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon through 4 PM. While we would like to think this was just a general attack, the more we look into it it seems as though we were targeted. We hope to have our IT all fixed by months end . Additionally we will be on vacation from the 3rd through the 10th. Please be patient with us as we are all volunteers, and we are doing our best to rectify the situation

Busy busy busy over here as usual. Lots of celebrations going on for different birthdays including Dan’s wife and Dan‘s coming up this week. But we still of course have to carve out time to let you know about our amazing birds. Meet Grubby. Grubby is a fully disease tested, Citron cockatoo. He is very well cherished in his home until his owner became incapacitated and was unable to handle him. Luckily he did remain very friendly and has adjusted very well to being with us. He does however want his forever home. Due to Citron‘s being on the ESA list, they cannot transfer state lines when being adopted. As far as Cockatoosgo he’s not overly loud. He will however not be suited for an apartment or town home. He would do best in a home with adult children or no children at all. He does like to fly in short bursts but as time goes on we are hopeful that will increase. He is very food motivated and will cooperate with most things for a simple pine nut or pistachio . Do you think this guy is the one? Fill out an application

Please note, our application process is designed to find the best possible fit for our birds. That does not mean the first possible fit. In order to be considered you need to visit our direct website www.lonelygreyrescue.org. This is the first step. No exceptions. We do perform a home inspection for all potential adopters. All adopters will be required to come in person for visitation with the birds to make sure we have the right fit. We do not ship birds.

Name: Grubby “Grub the stud”
Age: 19
S*x: Male
Medical: None noted
Preference: None noted
Plucking: none noted. Although feather condition is not great, the more baths and sunlight he gets, the better his feather condition gets
Notes: this guy is an ESA listed Bird and he needs to stay in New Jersey.

This is a jazzy fizzle producshizzle. No? No one? Lol. Say hello to Jazzy our senior Umbrella Cockatoo. She is just as sweet as she is loud. She is fully disease tested and ready to rock ‘n’ roll. Unfortunately Jazzy is way too loud for anything other than a single-family home. She will absolutely make up for it with how sweet she is. She does well with both men and women so that should make life easy. She is extremely dusty even though many of her feathers are missing, so no allergies please. She’s still very active for her age but she cannot fly. That doesn’t stop her from walking across the room to get to where she wants to go. She does still occasionally lay an egg which will need to be monitored in certain times of year. We can walk you through it if it does occur. Think you’re up for the challenge? Let us know with an application.

AMAZING BIRD ALERT! AMAZING BIRD ALERT! AMAZING BIRD ALERT! But seriously Suzy Q is an amazing fully disease tested cockatiel. She unfortunately lost her long time friend and cage mate last year which led to her coming to us. She has managed quite well and has befriended several of our
Other cocktiels but ultimately prefers her one on one human time. She’s quite quiet and would do fine in an apartment or townhome. She loves soft head scratches and pine nut treats. She really just needs someone to be her forever friend and retirement home. Can you still see how beautiful she is? Then you just might be the one she’s looking for. Let us know.

We are a little bit late today but we had a lot of really great meet and greets this morning. but that being said please allow us to introduce Snee our Nanday Conure. He is fully disease tested and ready to go. Sydney is definitely one of our most senior conures here. He is a little bit slower moving and takes a minute to step up fully. He does still have the nandays scream but definitely not as frequently as some of his younger counterparts. but due to this he would not do well in an apartment or townhouse. Additionally very young children might not be the best fit as this little guy needs a very patient owner. I think he’s the one? Let us know by filling out an application

Please note, our application process is designed to find the best possible fit for our birds. That does not mean the first possible fit. In order to be considered you need to visit our direct website www.lonelygreyrescue.org. This is the first step. No exceptions. We do perform a home inspection for all potential adopters. After taking last week off for spring break and to celebrate Dan and Ria ‘s sons first birthday we are back to it. Meet Mabel. Maples a fully disease tested Whiteface Cockatiel. She is sweet as pie and loves everybody. She can be an incessant Whistler so work from home people this is not the bird for you. If you don’t mind the whistling she is a great companion. Her flying definitely needs some work but she has been getting better at it. Remember Cockatiels can easily live past 25 nowadays so 10 leaves quite a long life to live. I think she’s the one for you? Let us know if an application.

Before we get into the hopefully last of the cold weekends, let us introduce you to James. James is are fully disease tested and DNA male lutino Cockatiel. Just like all of our Cockatiels James is completely in team and loves to be with people. He does well with men women and children. He is a very confident bird and a very curious bird. This sometimes leads to him getting in a little bit of trouble. While he’s out he definitely needs supervision. Are you miss having that little baby in your house so you need to constantly watch where are you looking for a companion just to keep you company? He might be the perfect match for you then. Let us know if you’re interested.

Let’s start this Monday off with a bang. Say hello to Jasper are fully disease tested red sided Eclectus. As with all of our Eclectus we do require showing a mastery of their correct diet. We do believe that Eclectus are one of the most abused birds in the pet trade due to improper feeding. Now that aside as you can expect to anybody in the know about Eclectus Jasper is no exception with his quirky and fun personality. He does generally do well with most people it’s not super particular about who those people are. He has his moments which make him extremely loud and therefore will disqualify any townhome /apartments situation’s. He’s a very good eater and he’s not overly picky but does get bored and likes a change quite frequently. As with all of our Eclectus adoptions he will be going home with several weeks of frozen chop. Do you think this guy might be the one? Let us know with an application

Ya’ll really loved Mr. George, so we thought we would keep with that and introduce you to Foogie. Foogie is also a formerly wild caught yellow naped Amazon . He is fully disease tested and ready for his retirement home. He is partially blind. Unfortunately he spent many years eating sunflower seeds which resulted in fatty deposits in his eyes. Since a full dietary change those deposits have all but cleared up as best they will. Continuing to keep him on a healthy diet is important so he can enjoy the next 20 to 25 years of his life. He is very sweet and will actively step up to anybody who asks. He’s not awfully loud and generally likes to climb up and down the cargo net to get to his favorite sunny spots. He would thrive in a household that was willing to accept him as he was and potentially set up a spot in their favorite room just for him so he could hang out with them all day. Do you think you have a spot in your house for this perfectly imperfect guy? Let us know by filling out an application.

Please note, our application process is designed to find the best possible fit for our birds. That does not mean the first possible fit.
