We took Cletus to the vet as he had developed bronchitis and his foster couldnโ€™t get him over it despite all the normal remedies. We did X-rays because we were concerned he had pneumonia.

Unfortunately at the same time it was discovered via the X-rays that he has the ๐›๐ž๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ ๐š๐ฌ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐š๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ. ๐‡๐ข๐ฌ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ๐จ ๐š๐ง ๐š๐›๐ง๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐—-๐ซ๐š๐ฒ๐ฌ. This means we need to keep a close eye on his heart health. Very rarely is Sybil made speechless or shocked medically, sheโ€™s pretty much seen it all, but this was an unwelcome surprise. This is so upsetting and will be expensive to properly diagnose and address going forward.

We tested his thyroid to see if that was the issue as itโ€™s can potentially cause it. We were hopeful as before his diet he was, well, portly, unfortunately it isnโ€™t his thyroid and he is just a fattypants. So now itโ€™s back to the drawing board. We are trying to figure out what is causing it in order to slow down the progression. We are afraid itโ€™s caused by an autoimmune issue, if that is the case slowing it down will be hard and borderline impossible.๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

He currently eats via a raised feeder, we are measuring to get a higher one. We have started to soak his food so itโ€™s softer which also helps but he hates it. It appears that since being in rescue heโ€™s become quite the prima donna with a very persnickety palate. We have to add wet food to make him eat it which is another expense.

Phin was abandoned in March tied to a swingset at a farm in the Gurley area. Farm owner came home and SURPRISE!!
They thought they could find a home for him but have been unsuccessful. He is now in boarding/shelter and he HATES it. The situation is NOT at all what a dog like Phin needs. Heโ€™s going a bit crazy and itโ€™s causing problems so he needs a home to fit his needs NOW! This is in no way about Phin being bad, this is about Phin needing a home that can give him what he was bred for. Confinement is not it.
Phin is a sweet sweet dog. He seems to love people and dogs and cats. He does well in a crate. He potties only outside in the kennel but he has access 24/7.
Heโ€™s well mannered and gentle and does listen well. He is neutered and will be updated on his shots next week (and we can better assess age at that time).

Phin needs a home ASAP. This is not, for his well being, something that we can wait on.

We have tried to post a cute video of Cletus and the food delivery but for whatever reason Facebook wonโ€™t post it. We will keep trying. In the mean time we want to say ๐ŸซถTHANK YOU SO MUCH๐Ÿซถ for the 8 bags of dog food we received! Cletus was SO EXCITED that he started to open a box during our photo shoot! We have been able to distribute bags of food to some of the local foster dogs and we are so grateful!

I donโ€™t want them to go to just anyone because, well, they are my babies and are already spoiled. Iโ€™d really like for them to go to homes where I know they will be well taken care of, still spoiled.

Meet Miss Kitty. Aka โ€œKitty Catโ€. Kitty is a Cane Corso. She is a large dog, at approx 130 pounds!! This breed is known for their protectiveness and their propensity to bond to one person/owner.
Kitty was abandoned in boarding after she got loose and had a fatal altercation with a small dog. The owner, whom she was clearly bonded with, never got back into contact, quit his job, disconnected his phone, and left town. ๐Ÿ˜ข To say she is sad, confused, and doesnโ€™t understand why sheโ€™s living in boarding is an understatement.
Unfortunately, we donโ€™t know much else about her. We know sheโ€™s not okay with small animals (cats included) but her owner eluded to the fact that she wasnโ€™t good with large dogs (she has exhibited friendly behavior through the fence to larger dogs), children nor anyone else but him ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.
We have no idea of her age or what vetting she has had.
We know this situation is not good, and we know the likely outcome. But we also know none of this is her fault and we have to put out one hail mary of a plea for anyone, ANYONE, who is breed experienced and willing to take a shot on this beautiful girl.
We will take her and have her vetted if someone qualified steps up to save her life.

Kitty growled at the kennel owner the first few days, but has since been extremely sweet and submissive. She is not destructive, takes treats with a gentle touch, and is now very quiet and polite.
We want nothing more than to give her a shot, to find that much needed lifeline.
If you feel you qualify, PLEASE reach out. But reach out NOW. There is NO time to waste.

We are also happy and willing to transfer to any breed experienced rescues with space. Please reach out.

Rescue is a struggle these days, and while Megan had the best fosters ever,
we struggled finding her a home. Rescued back in January after being dumped, no one showed interest in her. And then someone finally did. And to say that someone was the most perfect someone(s) for this amazing girl is an understatement.
โ€œAll in good timeโ€. Itโ€™s easy to get frustrated and think it will never happen, but when itโ€™s right itโ€™s right. And sometimes that takes 9 months and you want to give up, but then amazing fosters and perfect adopters come along and give you hope again to rescue another day.

Happy Life Megan. Now WILLOW!

After being dumped in the middle of nowhere, where she spent a week on her own before rescue, Megan has now been in rescue for 8 months. 8 months with ZERO inquiries. To say we are shocked is an understatement. But Megan has been lucky in that she has had the BEST fosters around. She has ONLY had several because we are trying to get exposure for her to new people as all her fosters agree she deserves the absolute best home around.
She is great with dogs and cats and people. Sheโ€™s highly intelligent and crates beautifully. Sheโ€™s potty trained and picks up on directions quickly. Her current foster says, โ€œIt blows my mind she hasnโ€™t been adopted yet. Sheโ€™s about as perfect as they come!โ€
Adoptions are down everywhere it seems, 2 years ago we would have had 12 applications within the first week. Things are tough all around but we arenโ€™t quitters. And we will NOT quit on Megan. This dog deserves to rest her head on her forever pillow in her forever home with her forever family. Please share to help make this happen for her.

Gracee has been missing south of Sidney since early a.m. 9/6. She was seen north of Sidney near Wheatbelt later that day. There have been no confirmed sightings since.
She is VERY missed.
Gracee is a very recent rescue and is a very shy and skittish dog. DO NOT CHASE OR TRY AND CATCH.
But PLEASE reach out with any and all sightings or information. This will help us to know where to focus our search and set up traps.

We have a bunch fosters, several of which are senior and/or special needs and we go through an immense amount in supplies every 10 days. Can anyone help with donating? We did X-rays because we were concerned he had pneumonia. Unfortunately at the same time it was discovered via the X-rays that he has the ๐›๐ž๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ ๐š๐ฌ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐š๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ. ๐‡๐ข๐ฌ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ๐จ ๐š๐ง ๐š๐›๐ง๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐—-๐ซ๐š๐ฒ๐ฌ. This is Rumer Emerson and sheโ€™s straight from California! Rue is one of our newer paralyzed Frenchie additions to the High Plains PAW family. She got to experience snow for the first time the other day complete with a cozy sweater and one of her fashionable diaper skirts. Rumer suffers from IVDD. This is a condition caused by Degenerative Disc Disease. In Rueโ€™s case it has caused her hind legs to be paralyzed and sheโ€™s incontinent. This means she scoots, uses a wheelchair and wears diapers!
