Beau is going to his forever home this weekend he has waited so long
Beau has waited an a long time for his forever home. We rescued him and his siblings off a rural Mississippi road. They were so scared and sick. There were 3 one of the siblings passed the day we rescued them. They were in the hospital for over a week fighting dreadful parvovirus this was in February. They were so small and so fragile - through the love, excellent vet care and prayers Bitsy and Beau survived and when moved to their new foster Audrey they thrived became loving confident and happy pups. Beau’s sister Bitsy was adopted last month and now Beau will join his family this weekend. Rescuing neglected and sick pups / dogs is not a sprint … it’s a marathon it’s addressing the medical issues first and then the emotional and the emotional issues can not be minimized. When Beau first met his second foster he was scared and unsure - to see how much he’s blossomed and has become this loving, confident jovial pup that loves other dogs and children makes our hearts so full. Every single dog deserves to have this opportunity. Thanks to the amazing village of people that helped Beau get to today. Last week we showed you the upsetting pictures of emaciated pups in urgent need of help in the Tupelo MS area. Well here they are now .. Our 5 little girls are the cutest little babies peanuts ! We aren’t sure their mix but we know they were skinny and starving and being fed very little and what they were eating was cow milk 😞. They are safe now and been dewormed, de flea and eating good milk replacer and wet puppy food. They are so sweet and starved for love and attention but getting lots of it now. All 5 are girls and adorable ♥️♥️♥️ they will all see the vet next week to get exams and first shots. Asha visit went well today ! Other than her teeth being worn down she’s a healthy girl. We found out she’s likely closer to 9 but she’s got a young healthy heart and loving spirit. Asha loves people, cats, dogs even chickens! ( read more )

The knot in your throat that develops when the vet tells you the “six to seven year old” dog you pulled from the shelter is more like nine or ten 🥹 But, you choose to feel happiness not sorrow, because you know whatever time this beautiful, deserving, sweet, senior lab has left will undoubtedly be the best years of her life.
Some rescues heal me. Some go on to heal others. I don’t know where Asha will end up but I do know she is intended specifically for some one or some thing — a second chance at closure with a beloved but never forgotten dog, a final dog for someone sick or on borrowed time. I don’t know. She wasn’t sent to me with instructions. I was just called to save her 🙏🏼
Aside from being an old girl, Asha is very healthy. She is all things friendly — poultry, dogs, cats, kids, humans. She walks well on a leash. She will crate but doesn’t need to be — no destruction and is housetrained, with the occasional accident, if left for extra long periods.
Asha is a 70 pound black lab who was likely used for breeding. Based on her worn, flat teeth, she was caged, or tethered, and, out of boredom, chewed on her containment. She is still very capable of eating hard kibble but bully sticks and chew toys are difficult for her.
