Can you help this unique kitty and their mother? This little orange cat has a crooked tail.

These cats are not feral. According to the owner the mother is about 20 years old!

If I am given support, I will be able to get all of these babies fixed and into loving homes!

The animals in this barn are severely in**ed, something that I believe is starting to cause birth defects. I still believe they deserve loving families.

Praziquantel is a dewormer which is extremely effective against tapeworms.

Tapeworms are the most common worm found in the ferals I rescue and rehabilitate.

This is because these animals are getting eaten alive by fleas. In the larval state of the flea, they often consume tapeworm eggs.

When an animal is itching it's fur because of a flea infestation, they occasionally consume adult fleas.

The tapeworms which are still present from the fleas larval stage are then able to hatch and wreck havoc on the animal's digestive system.

Our kennels are finally empty and I can take on more orphans as some supplies were donated! Unfortunately there are plenty to go around.

Today a woman contacted me because her kitten had a broken leg.

This could have been prevented by spaying the mother and keeping them inside.

This is a neverending problem. I set the leg but this baby needs real medical care.

29% of outdoor cats who ingest poison ingest a substance called Ethylene Glycol, more commonly known as antifreeze. That's nearly 3 out of 10. Of the cats who ingest antifreeze, nearly 45% die and many are permanently disabled with problems including but not limited to liver failure and blindness.

What are the symptoms of antifreeze poisoning?

- Breathing that is rapid or absent
- Blood in urine or urine retention
- Blurred vision or blindness
- Rapid heartbeat & low blood pressure
- Headache, stupor dizziness, fatigue & convulsions

It is neither a humane nor a slow death. Visible symptoms can be delayed for up to 12 hours, all the while the kidneys, liver & brain are being destroyed.

How can this be prevented? Keep any toxic substances in closed containers that are out of reach for children and pets.

Keep cats inside or contained, unsupervised cats are prone to getting into toxic substances, even if people aren't intentionally baiting them.

Would you let a toddler roam unsupervised? No. Then why take the risk with a cat?

This is the sad reality of the life that feral cats live.

There used to be an active colony feeder in Chilhowee Mo but what happens when they come up on hard times and have to quit?

Kittens starve, the adults start to decimate wildlife and the cycle continues.

If you look under houses you will find the bodies of these babies emaciated and in various states of decomposition.

This kitten I have now is emaciated and there's no guarantee he will ever recover. If he gets any worse, the only humane option will be euthanasia.

How can this be prevented? Spay and neuter your pets.

What do indoor cats miss out on?

Dog attacks ✅
Fiv & FeLV ✅
Getting hit by cars ✅

And so, so much more. Cats are domestic animals. Treat them with the kindness and respect they deserve as such.
