We train horses for the more novice, nervous, often more mature riders as well as competitive riders.

At "Cattybrook Horses" we run a specialised training programmme which aims to produce horses for the more nervous, more novice and often more mature riders, as well as competitive Para riders. We like to have the horses for a while so that we can put them through their paces, (take them out and about if they are the competitive type) and generally get to know them. Generally our horses have alread

y had a few weeks training in Ireland before coming to us and we therefore already have an insight into their ability and behaviour. If at anytime we don't think that are suitable for our programme, we arrange for them to return to their owners. We are a fairly small business which allows us to spend plenty of time with our clients, we will always offer our advice and help prior to, and during your time with us. We will also offer our full support and advice on an ongoing basis, we are here to chat or give reassurance and assistance at any time both now and in the future. We will often take photographs of you whilst you ride (weather permitting!) and will endeavour to email them to you on the same day so that you can take a look at them and show your friends and family or trainers. We encourage you to bring a friend/trainer during any visit to us and will always speak our mind if we have concerns about the match between horse and rider. We welcome telephone calls to discuss anything you have on your mind in connection with our four legged friends so please call anytime for a completely non pressurised and relaxed chat. The beautiful "Ruby" has been in training with us for 5 months now and is ready to find a new home. We are based in Bristol.
She is a rising 5 yr old, 13:1hh (but I think she will mature at 13:2hh) Traditional Irish Cob.

She truly is an incredible mare with the most beautiful temperament and an untold amount of talent!
'Baby Rubes' (as she is known) has such a kind and willing nature and would make the most PERFECT new best friend for a child or a small adult, whether it be as a competitive PC or RC pony or a wonderful new addition to a loving family wanting to hack or go on fun rides😊.
It's very common to read the words 'remarkable' when describing a horse, but I have absolutely no hesitation in shouting from the roof-tops just how remarkable this wee girl is.
She has taken to her training with a very calm attitude along with maturity way beyond her years!!
Baby Rubes is wonderful to hack whether it be alone or in company. We encounter buses, huge quarry lorries, and regularly hack alongside (and under) the main Paddington rail line.
She has 3 very balanced paces and works in a rhythm in soft contact. She is becoming quite established in her lateral work and moves off your leg very obediently. She has the most enormous walk for her build.
She is just starting to learn to lengthen her strides a little, although we are taking it very gently...(If she had her way she would be riding through a Medium test tomorrow😉)
Joking apart, I do believe that she could be competing in BD in the New Year.
She absolutely LOVES her jumping! Whether that be in the Showjumping arena or out on the XC field. She is honest and careful and is never strong or rude. She is so balanced with her canter around a course that we are now just teaching her to shorten and lengthen her stride between, and on her approach to fences. She has been introduced to grid-work and seems to learn quickly with every new exercises she encounters. She snaps her little knees up in front and is developing a very tidy back end!
She recently attended a XC training morning at Tumpy Green and
tackled everything we asked of her with such confidence and maturity.....not to mention with a HUGE smile on her face. It was a very proud day for us🥰.
She is currently bare foot and is turned out in a mixed herd. She is good to catch, wash, worm and load, and she travels very quietly. She was quite unsure of the farrier at first but we just talk to her and reassure her and over time she has improved greatly, the farrier even commented last week on how easy she was and how she had matured.
As you can probably tell we are all rather soft on this wee girl and are looking for a new home where she will continue to enjoy life and be adored.

"Daisy Doodles"......A cob that can 🥇🥇!!!
We couldn't be prouder at Team Cattybrook!
The lovely little "Daisy" has been in training with us for 5 months now and whilst we knew she was an absolute superstar XC we were convinced that there was also a little Dressage Diva waiting to burst out! And Boy! were we right!
Jess has put so much time in to Daisy with consistent training and belief that she could be a winner.
Yesteday we took her to her first ever dressage competition and Jess rode Daisy beautifully, impressing the judges and bringing home a 1st in the Prelim 18 and also a 1st in the Novice 30!

For sale in Bristol - "Willow" is a stunning and and very kind mare and despite her tender years she is showing such maturity in her work - not to mention talent! She is a rising 5yr old, 15hh, Irish mare. She has beautiful manners and a fabulous attitude to her work. She is a lovely calm horse who will excel on the Hunt field and/or in the higher levels of Riding Club. A super little eventing prospect. With the right rider, this partnership could affliliate in all 3 spheres next year. She has recently been out on the hunt field with The Berkeley and has shown the most wonderful manners. She will happily stand at point and is great around the hounds, she has been receiving many compliments. She is a very straight forward horse to take out for both novices and the more experienced rider. She has a wonderful attitude to her work and will always wear a smile no matter what you are asking of her. She has 3 balanced paces that are rhythmical and uphill and has such a trainable brain, she tackles every new task with smile on her face. She has taken well to her lateral work and is learning to lengthen and collect with ease. She is nicely in front of your leg without being too sensitive. When it comes to jumping, she has blown us away! ....especially on the XC course...she just tackles all new fences as if she has seen them all before. As you can see from her video, she is brave and bold and always very genuine. When it comes to showjumping, she is bold and careful and very moveable around a track. She makes a super shape over a fence and is very neat in front and really tucks up behind! She will also happily look after a nervous/novice rider when jumping as she will always help her jockey if they come in to a
