Update: Caitlin has been adopted!

Meet Caitlin!

Caitlin is a beautiful and sweet 6 month old Miniature Bull Terrier mix who is looking for her forever family! This cutie pie came to us all the way from Texas and we think she is really going to enjoy exploring all Colorado has to offer with her new family!

Caitlin should do well in a home with kids and other friendly dogs, this girl is a total catch! Caitlin is still learning the basics (obedience, potty training, walking nicely on a leash) but we think in a home with someone who is willing to put the time and effort into training her, Caitlin is going to grow up to be the perfect girl!

Caitlin is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. Come meet this gorgeous little lady, she is all ready to go home now!

Winter Storm Warning for Lake County - wind, snow and severe temperatures predicted through Tuesday

A winter storm warning is in effect for Leadville from now, January 12th until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, January 13th. Furthermore, the National Weather Service forecasts 8-12 inches of snow, wind chills ranging from -20 to -36 over the next four days.

Temperatures will range from -14 to 20 degrees with blowing snow and gusts as high at 70mph.

Avalanche risk throughout the State with the CAIC issuing a special avalanche advisory through Monday, January 15th. The avalanche dangers surrounding Leadville is at Level 3- Considerable. White out conditions are also extremely likely.

Take the time now to prepare for this storm:

Stay off roads! Dangerous conditions are predicted on Fremont Pass and Hwy 24. Keep first responders and youselves safe by staying home. If you must travel, ¬prep your vehicle and pack an emergency roadside kit.

Stay covered and warm by dressing in dry layers. Wind chills in this range can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Prepare your home by keeping faucets dripping and opening your cabinets to prevent pipes freezing/bursting. Be careful while shoveling and watch for leaks and ice dams.

Have you checked your CO Detector lately? If it goes off, call 911 and leave the home.

Call your neighbors and make sure they’re doing ok!

And remember these temperatures are hard on our pets (and their paws!) too - so take precautions when they need to be outside.

Thanks to everyone who donated yesterday! We received an additional $1,800 in donations for a grand total of $5,485 raised through the Colorado Gives platform. For context, that allows us to help fund over 100 spay-neuter procedures, thus saving many lives by avoiding unwanted litters of puppies and kittens!
