Puppies!!!

It’s lovely to see your bloodlines continue so when one of our progeny had puppies we were only too happy to share the lovely news.

Lhamo (Miah/Balu progeny) has had her first litter with Gyalwang producing 8 lovely black and tan offspring.

The two males are spoken for but there are 6 lovely girls looking for their new homes.

The litter is located in Werribee which is located on the west side of Melbourne and the pups are currently 6 weeks old.

If you’re ready to have a wonderful TM in your life please give Xuren a call (0427163933) to get more details/photos and to arrange for a viewing of the pups.

All the Best 😀.

Rehome of Florence

Unfortunately we’re still searching for that special home for Florence hence the re-post.

Good evening All,

Due to unforeseen & unfortunate personal circumstances we have a lovely 2.5 year old Black and Tan Female TM from our 2021 Miah and Balu litter who is looking for a special new home.

The following is a direct description straight from her current owner who is located in the Newcastle area, north of Sydney.

“Florence is an incredibly loving girl with a heart of gold for her people. Although in true TM fashion she is quirky, with that being said, she is great with cats and children.

Ideally she’d love a home as an only dog but is ok with a small submissive dog. Needs a strong leader as she’s a very strong minded female.

Florence has been shown successfully for a year including the Sydney Royal.

She takes her confidence from her leader although she’d much prefer being someone’s couch potato.

“Woofy” has grown up in an all female household so can be wary of men.

She has been successfully boarded several times and can be vocal and stand-offish with strangers but with definitely relax after a few days.

Florence is crate trained, is easy to bath and blow dry and walks well on lead.”

Further, Florence’s ideal home will have had previous TM (or equivalent) experience & be willing to follow detailed Rehoming instructions provided by the current owner and her breeder.

If you think you can provide Florence with a wonderful home please DM me and we can take it from there.

Regards

Warrick

Ok no problem

If you can please put together a spiel on how you, your environment and your previous experience with Tibetan Mastiffs or a similar dog type I’ll send it to Florence’s owner by the end of this coming weekend - by then we’ll have some good homes to choose from hopefully.

If you can email your spiel to [email protected] that’d be great.

Thank you 😀.

Marley Rehome

Unfortunately we haven’t had a home come up for Marley so we are re-posting in the hope that we’ll be more successful this time.

Marley is a 2.5 yr old entire female Tibetan Mastiff located in the Newcastle region who requires a new special home due to no fault of her own.

Marley is very true to type TM in that once she’s settled she will walk through fire for anyone in her pack although as can be expected from a typical TM she will take time to settle & she doesn’t trust easily.

Marley definitely enjoys the company of other dogs, especially male dogs and has grown up around children.

She needs a strong leader and gets her confidence from her leader.

She is particularly protective of her home and those within it and can suffer from separation anxiety which is easily managed with a safe space for her and having a dog friend present definitely helps.

Marley’s new home will be one with previous TM experience with previous Rehoming experience being the ultimate goal.

Please remember that Rehoming TMs is not for the faint hearted - it’s definitely a different experience than starting with a young pup & requires a different skill set.

If you think you can offer Marley a special new home please message me.

Registration of Last Years Litters -

Good morning all.

I’m still waiting on several parties to return their Litter Registration documen which I’ve prompted everybody several times to complete and get back to me.

To those who have followed up- my thanks for your response and patience.

Ill be lodging the Litter Registration with Dogs Queensland this week so if you don’t send them back you’ll not be issued a Certificate of Pedigree.

My friend Geronimo is looking for her forever home.

She’s the last available girl that ever be produced by Akeela and we’re absolutely proud to make her available to an approved home.

She is the daughter from GG & Chapo and was born on the 19th of July and is available for $2000.

She has a wonderfu, relaxed, goofy personality which would make her ideal for a first time TM family.

If you’d like to know more, please DM me your email address and I’ll send you an information pack.

Evening All,

Despite a bunch of generally healthy interest, we still have 4 pups available (2 male & 2 female) so we’re dropping the price again to $2000 from $2750 to approved homes.

No holds - first to be approved and pay your $500 deposit gets the priority.

Information on each pup will be shown on subsequent posts.

The Benefits of Early Age Kennel Exposure

Having owned & operated our kennels for a while now, one of the significant benefits it has provided is the intensity of any learning experience, ie you can learn very quickly.

One of the most important early lessons we’ve seen is how relatively quickly the demeanour of a puppy can change if exposed to significant positive experience & how that experience can carry through to future behaviour.

We had a young (just 8 weeks) spaniel puppy come in and it was obvious that she’d barely seen another environment nor another human before - the absolute fear she showed was remarkable and truly sad to see & you could tell that if it was allowed to continue would have become deep-set as per some of the behaviours exhibited by other dogs we’ve seen in the facility that had been isolated most of their lives- quite a few farm dogs come in that live on huge farms so they didn’t get exposure to people other than those few on the farm.

Anyhow, I was saddened by this fearful cowering behaviour which can easily turn into aggression so I went into the pen and tried to pat her but I was convinced that I was going to get bitten so I backed off and I could tell from her behaviour she was happy when I did.

I discussed the situation with others working at the kennel facility and they became hesitant to interact with the pup after they heard about her behaviour- this can be a critical point in the puppies development because if we had continued to back off the puppies behaviour may have been re-enforced and this could have been the point her behaviour began to start to be deep-set.

Later on after I thought about it a bit and I recalled one of the other regular adult dogs who had deep-set aggression and how one of our regular experienced staff dealt with that dog - by not making eye contact, pretending that the dog wasn’t there and presenting a confident persona she was able to enter that dog’s environment and clean his pen.

So I did a similar thing with the scared puppy- I just bustled in as though she wasn’t there, picked her up before she could think about it, moved her then cleaned her pen, then did the same in reverse to return her to her pen.

Low and behold on the second handling fearful behaviour she had previously exhibited had drastically reduced as the perceived fear she had in her mind lessened.

Being alone without her family in a new scary noisy place made her think that fear was the right response to present and fear and anger are very close in a dog’s emotional spectrum.

When I told the other staff at the facility about the situation they all of a sudden started going into her pen to see if they got a better reaction too because who doesn’t want to play with a cute young puppy right?

Puppies are nothing if not adaptable so it really didn’t take much more than a couple of days and her behaviour had truly transformed and since that initial time, she’s been in 3 or 4 more times and her happy demeanour has always stayed.

Her name is Luna btw.

At Akeela we go out of our way to highlight the importance of early socialisation with your pups but how often do you really need to go to the groomer or vet to habituate your pup? Not often enough right?

Using the right Boarding Kennel is one way to take the socialisation experience to the next level and beyond.

As our example of Luna shows, exposing your pup to the right BK experience can be truly beneficial for years to come when you need someone to take care of your dog when you can’t.

There are many kennels out there that will flatly refuse to take a TM due to the breeds reputation alone so getting your puppy in early while it’s still in it’s cute phase can not only prove beneficial for the puppy but can help begin break to break down an often unwarranted breed based persona.

Doing your homework is definitely necessary as naturally it’s better to have your puppy in an environment that can provide plenty of the right type and right quantity of attention and explaining the situation to your targeted kennel from the outset of the exercise & getting them on board should helpfully make visiting the kennel a good experience for all.

Morning All,

Just letting everyone know that this coming Tuesday we’ll be dropping off a pup at Brisbane airport so if youre interested in a pup please let us know and we can include you in the run.

This will result in a very significant savings combined with a further price reduction of our pups to $3000 each so there’s never been a better opportunity to secure one of the remaining few pups Akeela Tibetan Mastiff Kennels will ever produce.

Thank you!!!

Good afternoon All,

Something we’ve been sitting on for a while is the purchase of our new boarding kennel in Bundaberg - Four Way Kennels.

We specifically purchased this facilty to house our TM family and of course to simultaneously run the boarding business.

Over time (& things going the right way) we intend on installing TM & Guardian breed specific boarding facilities, so if you’re in need of a TM safe environment, drop us a line 😄👍.

We’ll be moving to Bundy in 2 Weeks, so if you’re a Victorian, you’ve got a limited time to see our pups first hand & if you’re in Bundy or Brisbane, you haven’t got long to wait!!!

Check out our kennel facilities at https://fourwaykennels.com

Good morning All,

Just letting you all know that this is our last breeding season unfortunately due to my ongoing poor health.

We have a bunch of pups available from both our Miah/Balu & GG/Chapo litters & we have just significantly reduced our price to $4000!!!!

If any of these beauties are of interest to you (except the light grey pup who’s spoken for) please don’t hesitate to contact Kristie who has been so kind to assist us with our puppy sales whist we manage things at home during this difficult time on 0411831453.

Thank you all 😀👍,

Current Circumstances-

As always at Akeela when the unfortunate need to re-home one of our dogs occurs, our ultimate wish is to re-home once because we recognise the significant effort, time and emotion that is input into the process by all parties, especially the dog.

After valiant attempts by Delilah’s current family we are sadly having to make efforts to try to find Delilah her absolutely ideal forever home.

Delilah’s Ideal Requirements-

Having bonded strongly to her former male owner, we are ideally looking for a single male to take her on board & love her for what she is - a committed & devoted guardian.

Being young (she’s from our 2020 litter so just over 2 years), Delilah’s at the stage in life where she needs rules and boundaries set by someone who’s got a strong personality that knows TM/big guardian breeds intimately and has the time to devote to her.

If you’re able to meet the above two criteria, it would be great if you are in a rural or semi-rural setting which will assist managing her energy levels, however this is negotiable.

Delilah grew up with a dog pal so she’s definitely dog savvy but a single male dog friend or no other dog is best.

Delilah’s Personality-

As stated above, being in her terrible two’s Delilah needs rules and boundaries set by someone who understands how to manage & talk TM.

Her current home has worked hard on her resource guarding to the point where it’s not an issue but experience is necessary to avoid significant behaviour regression.

Once her trust is gained and she settles down, her new owners will find that Delilah is a very smart, intelligent and loving girl. She is highly affectionate and enjoys spending her days by your side. She is playful, loves to be groomed & is a relatively quite TM. (If there’s such a thing!)

Relocation Assistance-

Please don’t let your location prevent you from applying if you think you can offer Delilah the home she deserves.

Costs associated with her transportation will be covered for the right home.

The Vetting Process-

The vetting process will be conducted by Akeela in conjunction with Delilah’s current owner so if you think you can offer Delilah her ideal home please DM me.

𝕊𝕒𝕝𝕖 𝕠𝕗 𝔸𝕞𝕚𝕣𝕒 -

Amira is a very affectionate 3 year old girl Black & Tan female from Akeela’s 2019 Balu & Miah litter who is located in Adelaide and is unfortunately being re-homed due to barking related issues.

Being a typical TM, she loves to be around her family but also loves acting on her natural born guarding instincts by patrolling the front of her property, keeping an eye on people and their dogs was they walk by and being left alone for hours enjoying this activity.

The main reason behind the need to re-home Amira is that she can get bored during the day when we’re not at home so she tends to guard bark excessively for the neighbourhood and unfortunately her owners are not in a position to get her a dog friend.

Amira loves her raw meats especially chicken. She is used to her kibble which is 30% of her diet, the rest fresh chicken, but she also has beef and lamb at times too.

Some points to note about Amira -
• She is toilet trained and does her business in the bark under a tree in the backyard.
• She is used to sleeping outside but can stay inside in her crate. She has no guarding tendencies when in her crate.
• She understands the basic commands like sit stay drop roll and sleep.
• She is amazing around other dogs, kids & people both on and off property.
• She’s great around cats.
• When introduced properly, she enjoys new people on the property.
• She has no food guarding tendencies.
• She has stayed a few times at other people's homes while her current owners were on holidays and she was fantastic.

Amira loves long walks but she her enthusiasm leads her to pull on the lead but gets better while you walk and her energy levels drop.

She will have her annual check-up at the vets in August and will be provided with up to date vaccinations.

She is desexed and will come with all necessary paperwork (vet vaccination card and Certificate of Pedigree).

Amira’s Ideal Home –
Finding a TM a suitable new home is never easy so we expect that the ideal home will have experience re-homing TM’s or similar big guardian breeds.

Ideally the new owner has –
• A rural or semi-rual property or has forgiving residential neighbours who are familiar with the typical TM guard barking.
• Active/energetic tendencies to manage Amira’s young energetic personality.
• A friendly dog who can be Amira’s new buddy.

Price –
Amira is being offered by her current owners for $3500 and her new owners are expected to bear transport costs.

Re-homing advice will be provided by Akeela and her existing owners.

If you think Amira is right for you please let me know.

Regards

Akeela Tibetan Mastiff Kennels - Our Story

Akeela Tibetan Mastiff Kennels is located approximately 1 hour to the West of Melbourne in the lovely country town of Greendale which is between Bacchus Marsh & Ballarat.

ATMK prides itself on producing TMs that are physically healthy as well as being sound in temperament. We deliberately choose to not breed off dogs that are mentally unstable or unpredictable.

Its fair to say each dog has its own physical structure. Some dogs are structurally perfect, some have structural issues, some have genetic based issues - at Akeela, as per Dogs Victoria regulations - we ensure that we always breed towards the improvement of the breed standard. For example if the Sire has a breed average Hip/Elbow score, the Dam will have a score of that or better to ensure our progeny improve.

Prior to allowing our pups to go to their new homes, we make absolutely sure that you, as the new owner, are provided with as much knowledge as we can impart to ensure you & your puppy have a happy life together - forever. The fact is, TMs don’t rehome well, and “divorce” is not a part of a TMs vocabulary.
