🚴♀️🐾 Following on from my last post about the importance of walking your dog, I thought you may benefit also, as I have, from teaching your dog to exercise alongside your bike or on a treadmill which can be a game-changer for their health and happiness! It allows them to move at a pace that's comfortable for them while getting the exercise they crave, without you having to expend any unwanted energy This morning, Aika happily trotted alongside me on the bike, enjoying the fresh air and the thrill of running! 🌟❤️ Sometimes, a slow walk alongside a human isn’t enough, even for a good boy like Aika, who just needs to get out there and run! 🐕💨 If you want to give it a try yourself, here’s a quick step-by-step on how to safely train your dog to work alongside the bike:1. **Start Slow:** Begin with short sessions, walking your dog next to the bike to get them accustomed to the movement.2. **Positive Reinforcement:** Use treats and praise to reward them for staying close and focused.3. **Introduce Speed Gradually:** Once they’re comfortable, get on the bike and gradually increase the pace, ensuring it’s a speed they can handle.4. **Watch for Signs:** Always pay attention to your dog’s body language—if they seem tired or stressed, slow down or take a break.5. ** verbal cues:** I find it handy to use different commands (eg. left, stop, slow down, wait) consistently through the training and beyond to help make the whole process run smoothly and to avoid any collisions.
