We do not tolerate online bullying. If you have questions about what somebody is doing or how they are caring for an animal, simply ask them. Handle it with maturity. You didn't hear much from me for a good year or two on this page, because I was questioning everybody's motives since the people in question were spying on me and every time I would find out what name they changed it to and block them, they would come back with a new name. Twisting everything that I was doing or saying. When we lost Mikayla to su***de I decided i'm done hiding. None of us rescues have it easy. You don't realize the hard work and sacrifice that goes on behind the scenes. I cannot speak for anybody but myself, but I have not taken a day off and probably eighteen years. I work 3 and 4 jobs at a time to make sure that I have enough to support the rescue. The animals eat before I do and I get them the best foods that I can find in my area until I can grow my own at my final location. I'm doing the best with what I have at the moment. More support leads to faster improvements. None of us have to be perfect or do everything the way you would do it in order for us to be great and beneficial.

Almost everybody on here is wonderful, but for those who feel that they can come on to any of these rescue pages and throw shade because of your own insecurity or disappointment with your life path, jealousy or whatever... The buck will stop here and I will aggressively stand behind anybody who is being unfairly targeted. If this is happening to you or your organization, please reach out to me. I will help you through it. I know what it feels like.

I am moved with sadness this morning as we learned of the passing of our long time friend, Steve, from Steve and Carl's traveling snake show. We have had the pleasure of his friendship for 10 years. Many a long conversation about the pet trade, the empathy we felt for all the animals left behind...this is the last photo of have of Steve and I. Rest my friend. Today's educational program with our animals will be dedicated to you. We will carry on your passion and outreach in our hearts forever. If you want to honor steve, love snakes. Love connecting people to want to save them and protect them. Vanquish fear of them, for education is the only way through to conserve all.

Every year we plant sunflowers and wildflowers at the rescue because of the importance of supporting pollinators. All summer, butterflies, bees, and other insects get much needed pollen and necter from these. So much of the food we eat is because of pollinators from everything above, and birds and bats! This is something we really value in environmental conservation. Who else has flower gardens or certified wildlife habitat?

Tortoise update: Another 46 grams gained! Doing great little girl!

Our little fighter is up 141 grams since arriving to us!! Antibiotics are done and twice a day soaks are still the norm. Our rescue dog has pretty much taken over mommy role and adores the tortoise. Always checks on her and won't leave her side. We love it!

Yesterday we received a tortoise that was found outside. Our friend cammie found it and got it to our friend Deb, a local wildlife rehabilitator and we picked her up from there. This poor girl is dehydrated, malnourished, and has a respiratory infection. Deb was kind enough to start antibiotics and were finishing them. Were working now around the clock to properly rehydrate, medicate, and keep her weight going up.
Clearly we dont have tortoises here and her species is from down south, amd they aren't sold im stores. So this leads me to believe she was taken from the wild, brought up here and dumped. We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that this is unethical and unfair...and in many cases illegal. Leave wildlife in the wild unless sick or injured then it should go to a licensed wildlife facility. Thank you for loving these animals everyone!

Mister Apfel, our program iguana, just got measured again yesterday! Hes 41 inches now! He should easily be able to double that yet.

We just want to take a minute to remind everyone that summer in general is dangerous for animals(and kids!) in cars but during the extreme heat it's lethal without question.

Please dont leave them unattended even for 10 minutes. Stay hydrated and cool!
