(2014)

We strive to rescue, medically rehabilitate, and re-home unwanted and abandoned Boxers, as well as providing education to pet owners. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into

their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist Boxers in distress without regard to age, condition or ease of placement.

Professor Clooney’s 5 Fun Facts about Boxers

1. Boxer breeds can be traced back as long ago as 2000 BC. Centuries after that you can find Boxer origins in Albania as a breed named Molossis. Boxers are also spotted in 16th century tapestries from Flanders. The breed is then traced through Belgium, and Germany, becoming what we know today.

2. Boxers made their debut in America, only after WWI. They were brought back by US service members who worked with them and grew to love them overseas during the war.

3. The breed has won Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show four times, but hasn’t won since 1970….it’s time folks!!!

4. The current iteration of their name likely comes from their playful antics of jumping up and down, and using their front legs to bat at the dog or human they are playing with – Muhammad Ali style.

5. Boxers are frequently used as service dogs for the blind, and sometimes as alert dogs for people who suffer from seizure.

It's Thankful Thursday at NWBR, and in the NW today it's raining. Our dogs are not always thrilled by it, and neither are their humans. However, today, we are focussing on thinking about all the reasons we are thankful for the months of rain we are lucky to have here.

Put on those raincoats, get outside, stomp in some puddles, and just remember the spring flowers, lush green foliage, and beautiful NW sunny spring days ahead!

Adoption Announcement!

From the moment Mason entered our lives, we knew he was a fighter. Found in heartbreaking condition—both physically and emotionally—Mason's journey began with uncertainty. Yet, his resilient spirit never wavered. With the tender care and unwavering love of his foster family, Mason experienced a truly remarkable transformation.

Day by day, Mason's light began to shine brighter. His soulful dark eyes, once clouded with sadness, now sparkle with joy. His playful personality emerged, revealing the incredible companion he always was, just waiting for someone to see the treasure within.

To Mason's new family: thank you for opening your hearts and home to this special senior boy. We know he will repay your kindness with a lifetime of unconditional love and gratitude.

Mason, your journey has been one of courage, resilience, and love. We are overjoyed to celebrate this new chapter in your life. Here's to endless belly rubs, cozy naps, and all the adventures your heart desires.
