DAVEY (TEXAS) UPDATE
Davey is doing much better now. Davey was released from the ER on August 25, 2021 and went back to his original foster mom. The ER wanted to leave the feeding tube in Davey because he was not eating well but UYR decided not to do that and believed he would improve once he was in his foster home. Prior to foster mom picking him up, an appointment was made for Davey to see the regular vet. Davey immediately recognized foster mom when she got him from the ER. Two days later he was seeing the vet. More blood work was done and the vet suggested a liquid nutritional supplement for foster mom to syringe into Davey if he did not eat. Foster mom was also syringing water into Davey several times a day. Davey’s blood work showed his kidneys were still not doing well so the vet called a canine nutritionist for a consult to determined the best diet for him since he had pancreatitis and poor kidney function. The vet told foster mom to put Davey on a hepatic food and come back in one month. Dave has been eating canned hepatic food, warmed up of course, and is drinking better but foster mom is still syringing water into him to make sure he is getting enough fluids. Dave will return to the vet in a few days for more blood work and a check up. This little guy has really fought to make it and it shows. He is running, and barking and has decided he will be the alpha even with foster mom’s 50lb dog. He is eating well and drinking water better but still needs to have water syringed. UYR still needs your help. UYR has spent over $6,000 on this little guy. UYR continues to pay for his vet bills, blood work, prescription food and medical necessities. We so appreciate the people who have donated to this little guy so that we could save his life. Without our wonderful donners, Davey would not have continued to enjoy his life. Davey spends a lot of time in foster mom’s lap, even when she is working. Davey lets foster mom know he is waiting to be picked up by barking at her. He also barks at her when he is hungry or needs to go outside. Please continue to help us help Davey by donating to UYR. Every little bit helps whether it is $5.00 or $500. Thank you for your continued support and keep checking back for more Davey updates!!!! You can donate on the button below or go to the website in the Looking for Love section and scroll down to Davey's bio where he has his own pay pal key. www.uyr.us

CALLIE (FLORIDA)
This sweet little Yorkie girl is Callie. She is about 12 years old and only 6.5 pounds. Callie is being fostered in Bradenton, FL.
Callie is a sweet, petite, 6.5 pound little darling. Now that she had her surgery and that awful tumor is gone she has become such a good natured, social girl. She will follow her foster mom and dad all around the house. She will take any opportunity to crawl into her peoples' laps or sit at their feet. She seems to be house trained, which is pretty nice. Callie does need a little help with leash walking, otherwise this cutie is just about perfect, well behaved, loving, and just a little princess.
Two weeks ago Callie's vet removed a very large mammary tumor. After the surgery the mass was sent off for a biopsy. The pathology showed that there was early stage cancer in the mass. However, the vet believes he got it all and the margins were clear. When the sutures were removed the vet noticed a light green tattoo on her belly. That indicated that it was more than likely Callie was spayed. It seems that even spayed dogs can get mammary tumors. Sadly for Callie that tumor wasn't removed before that mass grew to such a large size. Had it been removed early it probably never would have generated cancer cells. Thankfully, it was early stage cancer and unlikely to have spread. We know her lungs showed no sign of cancer. Callie's foster parents were told that it would be a good idea to check Callie for any new tumors when she goes for her annual veterinary appointments. He didn't see any reasons for being concerned now. Although Callie was more than likely spayed and the cancer was only in the removed mass, he suggested that Callie's mammaries be watched for any sign of growth. Callie may be one of those pups who is prone to mammary tumors. These tumors aren't fatal if they are caught early and removed.
Callie is ready to find her forever family. Don't let her age scare you away. This senior baby has so much love and life left in her. She will make someone a wonderful companion and cuddle bug. Callie would prefer an adult only home. A home with someone who is home often so that she can get the love and attention she enjoys. If you are lucky enough to adopt this girl, you won't regret it for a minute. Every bit of love you give Callie she will give back to you 10 times over. Callie is looking for her forever home. Will it be yours? Any questions please email foster mom at [email protected]

LEVI (ARKANSAS)
Meet the sweetest boy Levi. He is a Yorkie who weighs 8 pounds and is approximately 10 years old. He is being fostered in Bryant, Arkansas.
Lucky little Levi has moved to the Land of Opportunity in Arkansas. And that's just what he is looking for, an opportunity to be someone's lovin' little boy. He is being fostered in Bryant, AR, just outside Little Rock. Levi's birthday is March 8, 2011, making in a very young 10 years old. Levi lost an eye in his younger years, before coming into rescue, but unless you look for it, you would never even know. He is a confident little man and walks with a swagger, giving him a wiggle when he walks. Levi is as cute and full of himself as he can be, and a delight to get to know. He is mostly housebroken and learns very quickly. He loves to lay on the couch beside you or be in the room close to you. He would love to sleep with you and snuggle, but he is just as happy sleeping in his own bed beside yours. He does not like being confined to a play pen. Levi has been neutered, has his microchip, had a dental, and is up to date on all his inoculations. He does however, have a heart problem and is on daily medication. The cost of his medication comes out to just about $2.50 a day, and that's a small price to keep this little Prince healthy, so he can be yours for years to come. Any questions please email foster mom at [email protected]

Peach is ready to find her forever family!

This sweet, playful, smart, snuggly girl is just absolutely perfect.
We are guessing Peach is a Schnauzer/Border Terrier mix and may be about 20-35lbs when full grown. We have zero idea if she will be low-non shedding or not.

Peach gets along great with the fosters dogs and would love a sibling to play with. She loves to snuggle in bed with her foster Momma and is sleeping through the night. Romping around the yard and playing with toys is one of her favorite activities. Really, Peach is just an amazing little pup and any family would be lucky to have her!

If you are interested in adopting Peach, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com

This darling girl was apparently dumped out in the country. She had been attacked by another animal, has large puncture wounds and is very stiff and sore. We will find out tomorrow the extent of the damage. As always prayers, good wishes and donations are appreciated. Blood work and X-rays will be required…….

JILL (GEORGIA)
Jill is a 2 year-old 6 pound Yorkie girl being fostered in Suwanee, GA.
Jill is a super sweet young girl that has found herself in a shelter . She is a tripod missing her front leg but it doesn't hinder her at all. She is all puppy. We do not know what caused her to lose a leg or how she ended up being in a shelter needing rescue. She jumps runs and plays just like any other dog. She sleeps with her Foster Parents. Jill is also so smart that she tells her Foster Parents when it is bed time and when it is time to wake up. She is working on her potty training which is to be expected since we doing know her history. It is hard to walk her on a leash due to her missing leg. She will need to go to a home with a fenced in back yard. Jill loves to play fetch and loves active play time. She also enjoys snuggle time . If you are interested in this sweetie please email foster dad or fill out an application. Any questions please email foster mom at [email protected]

OZZIE (TENNESSEE)
Ozzie is a 13 pound Yorkie boy who is estimated to be about 11 years old and is being fostered near Ashland City, TN
A shelter reached out to us because Ozzie has been neglected for a very long time. He arrived at the shelter so matted that you couldn't even tell he was a super cute boy underneath all that hair. He was flea infested and had super long nails. His skin is very itchy and flaky and irritated. He is blind but seems to find his way around ok. This sweetheart deserves so much better and a home of his very own where he is well cared for during the rest of his Senior years. Ozzie had a good report from the Dogtor yesterday. He was estimated to be a bit younger than we first thought. Ozzie’s bloodwork was good and he tested negative for Heartworms and his f***l was negative as well. He has a great sounding heart. He will need a dental and that will be done in October. In the meantime Foster Mom will be helping his skin heal and work on his appetite. He is on a probiotic to help clear up his upset tummy. Foster Mom will also help him to get used to being petted and loved on. If you would like to donate to his care please go to www.uyr.us and scroll down to his bio and click on the Paypal button underneath. Any questions email foster mom at [email protected].

TANK (TENNESSEE)
Tank is a 1 and a half year old Yorkie/Terrier Mix boy who weighs a whopping 24 pounds.
Tank is a super sweet, smart, gentle young doggie. He is crate trained and will go to the door to go potty. He is still wearing a Belly Band around the house as he was just neutered and still marks. It will take about 6 months for his hormones subside so the urge to mark will go away. Tank is up to date on his shots, microchipped, had a dental and has been neutered. He is a completely healthy young boy. Tank is super gentle and play bites very easy. The only time Foster Mom has seen him be a bit aggressive is around food time. Foster mom has a houseful of doggies and she thinks he is just guarding his food. He is learning that is not accepted but for right bow he eats in his crate which doesn’t bother him one bit. He is not aggressive while his humans are eating at the table, but is learning that he cannot jump up and beg while they are eating. Foster Mom believes he can easily be trained to do tricks or agility. He rides perfectly in a car, no car sickness. Tank was surrendered by his owners sister because his owners passed away a week apart due to Covid-19. He came into rescue with two other dogs from the same situation. One has already been adopted and the other is adoption pending. Tank is still looking for a home to call his own. If you are interested in adopting him please email Foster Mom at [email protected].

Rodney spent the afternoon at the park & was hoping someone there would see him & fall in love! This guy is only around 2 years old, potty trained, loves toys, loves other dogs & is PERFECT. He keeps meeting people & because he has eyes for his foster (because he bonds to his person) nobody feels that spark. We get that, but we promise the second you start a trial, he will bond to you! 🤞🏽

First up from our new Maeday family named after the Simpson’s is Maggie! She & her siblings were born on 4/15 & will be 6 weeks this Thursday. Maggie is the shyest of the litter, needs some socialization & prefers to sleep on p*e pads 🤷🏻‍♀️ She weighs 2.6lbs & we think she looks more like her sh*tzu dad than her mom. Apps are not open for her or her littermates, so please wait to apply!

Kazie is an adorable 1 year old, 5.5-pound sweet Yorkie puppy girl. She is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.
Due to Covid dogs fostered in the state of Florida need to be adopted within the state of Florida.
Our sweet little Kazie is now a little tripod. Kazie had a rod implanted in her leg to correct the broken bone caused by a severe dog bite. The bone healed correctly and we began physical therapy to restore muscle mass and rehabilitate the leg to get her to use it. After trying everything, for over a month, to get her to use that leg including water therapy, stretching exercises, balance exercises, massage, and every other leg exercise to rehabilitate the leg and build up muscle mass, we finally realized Kazies leg was not working. She never used it, she never put it down, and we could tell at times her leg still bothered her.
Then just before her last appointment we discovered a mass that had appeared two days previously. It had gotten bigger and the vet said it was filled with pus. We could see that it bothered her a lot. The vet said although her bone was healed there was no muscle mass in her leg at all. She was holding the leg up in an awkward position and when she sat that leg bowed outwards. All along Kazies vet was concerned that bacteria from the dog bites had possibly gotten into the bone. The vet said her leg was becoming more and more useless and was doing nothing but dangling without any strength to it. It was unfortunately time for the leg to go.
On Monday May 10th little Kazie became a 3-legged little sweetheart. She was not sorry to see that leg go. It wasn't doing her any good. After surgery the vet examined the removed limb and said the leg was so infected-probably from the original bite wounds that most likely bacteria had settled into the bone and the soft tissue. Amputating her leg was the right decision. Had we not done that, the infection would surely have gotten into her bloodstream and most likely caused her death. This way, as a little tripod, Kazie will now live a long, happy, and healthy life.
She is currently recovering from her surgery with lots of rest, pain medication, and antibiotics. Within a day she was already walking, eating, and wanting cuddles and love from her foster mom and dad. Kazie's stitches should be out before the end of the month, and she should be ready for her forever home by the end of the month.
Kazie loves people much more than she loves other dogs. She would like a mommy or daddy to be home with her a lot of the day. She would be happy being the only dog in the home or maybe one other small submissive dog. She prefers to be with people rather than other dogs. She enjoys having her person throw her toy for her to fetch and bring back. She is also fine playing with a toy by herself rather than interacting with the other dogs in her foster home. She would not mind older well-behaved kids 13 years old and older, no young children for Kazie. She would enjoy a fenced yard, though she does fine on a leash, she likes to wander the yard. Please keep in mind Kazie is very young and she needs and deserves a family who will be there for her whole life, at least 15 more years.
Kazies surgery was expensive. If you want to show Kazie love please consider making a donation to help United Yorkie Rescue pay for this surgery and to help Kazie and so many other little dogs who need our help. Kazie says to say thank you and that she loves you. You can donate on the website in the Looking for Love section where she has her own pay pal key
