From a shivering, terrified pup in a concrete run to a happy little dog, we'd like to introduce Mac! He's about 2-3 years old, and is healthy, happy, and loves other dogs. In fact, we're looking for a home for him that has other dogs, because as this video shows? He likes to play!!!! Mac is currently being fostered in Yuma, AZ
911 from down near the SD/MX border
This young guy is terrified and at a small Imperial county shelter that gives about 10 days before euthanasia. We need a foster to save him. Can you help???
Odie update!
Odie, who once was suffering in the shelter after being hit by a car, is living his best life. Thanks to his foster and our generous donors, he is healing well with just a little extra metal in his body ❤️
2 year old Teddy is available
This beautiful rough coated boy is full of love to give - he enjoys laps and kids and playing and running. Teddy is dog selective, and he is an escape artist so we are looking for a home that can accommodate that. He is located in north San Diego county.

Pigeon is a 1.5 year old, female Jack Russell Terrier (~15 lbs, smooth coat, “shorty” style) seeking an experienced terrier home that is willing to continue working with her. In January she wound up in a county animal shelter, where her mental wellbeing quickly deteriorated in the loud, noisy environment. She was adopted, but returned 2 days later for being “too young”. Like many terriers, Pigeon is easily aroused and upon being returned to the shelter, her arousal levels tipped into negative behaviors with the constant onslaught of dogs barking. While being walked past kennels of dogs, Pigeon became worked up and frustrated, and inflicted a redirection bite on a volunteer.
Since coming to foster and having time to decompress from the overwhelming shelter environment — Pigeon’s behaviors have improved tremendously. Pigeon must be the only pet, and is not friendly towards other dogs. However, she does live with other dogs in her foster home and has learned to successfully ignore them in a crate/rotate situation — but this is not a long term solution. In her foster home, she has not demonstrated the same redirection biting behavior she displayed at the shelter, although seeing other dogs getting excited or noisy does trigger her arousal — she can stay under threshold enough to be called away from the excitement. Pigeon has also displayed some compulsive type behaviors such as tail chasing or incessant pacing when excited. Her new owner should be comfortable in continuing the work of teaching Pigeon how to settle herself down.
Pigeon’s big feelings about dogs is the bulk of her challenges — here is some great stuff about Pigeon! She makes an excellent and well behaved pet that can settle on the couch with you, and is quite sweet. She’s been very friendly with all people she’s met, welcoming guests into her home and she is quite adept at snuggling when all her energy/enrichment needs have been met. She shows no signs o
Russell Crowe
Russell Crowe was rescued from a Calexico Shelter by a foster in Encinitas. His homecoming there did not go well as he was not fond of the fosters dog. One of fabulous volunteers in Long Beach drove all the way down to Encinitas to get Russell until we could figure out a place for him to go. At first Russell was stressed out and confused but Jen showed him patience and care and he calmed down some but who would be the right family for Russell? He’s untrusting (who can blame him?), reactive, etc.. Then I interviewed Rosa. Their family lost their senior JRT almost a year ago. He was her husband’s BFF. When they saw Russell on our page, they knew they had to have him. They’ve dealt with the crazy that can come along with a Jack. They were unfazed by the truth of what we know so far.
Today they went to pick Russell up. Jen sent me this video and 😭!! Russell had not once displayed this type of joy since he was pulled from the shelter! All our hearts are so full ❤️
Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. This is why we rescue.
