Sasha and Ruby are ready for their forever homes!

These 7 1/2 year old girls have had their dental work done and have have put on weight - they are the picture of health now ❤
Both ladies are on Stilbestrol and we are working on find the right dosage/schedule for those meds. They are full of energy and have the typical boxer joie de vivre!

Sasha and Ruby are bonded, so please do not ask if they can be separated - they can't and won't be!

The girls are good with other dogs with a proper introduction, but really, after being dumped in a dog park, they really need to be the center of attention in someone's life. They love people! We haven't had them around children but there is no doubt they love them.
Unsure about cats, probably not.

Sasha and Ruby's foster mom is having some health issues, so we do need to get them placed in a forever or foster home ASAP. Of course a forever home would be preferred so we don't have to bounce them around after all they have been through, but if one isn't found very quickly, we will need to find another foster.

If my circumstances hadn't drastically changed in the past year, these girls would be with me. I was touched to my very core when I met them.

TYSON, Update.

I know you have all been missing Tyson’s updates so here is another one for you.

Tyson would first like to let you know that he is not a morning dog. Sorry, not sorry. He will get up in the morning and take care of outside business then turn around and march is sweet self right back to bed. Once the household is active and breakfast is being serves, Tyson will be your Sous Chef and your bus boy/dish washer, if allowed.

Once the household is up and moving around Tyson will be your shadow, never wanting to miss out on what ever you are doing. If you, no, when you adopt Tyson, you will never p*e alone again. Due to Tyson’s stealthy following techniques, on occasion he is referred to as “Shadow Boxer Tyson”.

Tyson is starting to mature into a beautiful companion. The commands we have been working on are clicking in, and the puppy antics, while still there, are of a more mature nature.

One of the most important commands is recall, and Tyson is excelling at his. I still offer him high value rewards for his quick return but not every time, sometimes it is high praise and happy dances when he comes back. After all who does not like to hear how great they are and have an instant party at the same time.

Tyson will let you know when he needs to go outside by pacing and huffing under his breath. Tyson also loves to be outside, basking in the sun beams or cooling himself in a cool breeze. When he wants back in he will scratch at the door.

Tyson is not fazed by thunder storms, windy days, loud vehicles, dogs barking or any loud noise. Tyson however does not like the rain, and who can blame him, as sweet as he is, he may just be made of sugar and could melt.

Tyson is not a barker, but will add his two cents worth if you having a conversation over the fence with your neighbour.

Tyson’s biggest dislike is the garden hose. It has never been used for anything but watering plants yet Tyson feels it is the devils spawn. When working in the yard and w**ding Tyson will follow you around and steal the pulled w**ds. It is so funny to watch him sneak up and sn**ch them and run.

Brutus is a boxer cross with a sweet squishy face.

Brutus is a wonderful polite young man with a deep love for all humans. And his favorite thing to do is cuddle and be a large lap dog. He was found on a gravel road north of Edmonton 1 week ago. He had not had a regular diet for sometime, he is very skinny!

His finder has kept him while looking for his family with no luck. She has gotten to know him and he is an absolute delight to have around. Loves all people, never barks and is happy to just chill in the backyard taking naps and chewing on a bone. He loves children! She believes he was brought into this world to be a little humans best friend.

Brutus gets along with all the dogs he has been introduced to and did very well at the boarding kennel.

He hasn’t met any cats so status is unknown in that area.

Brutus is very intelligent and learns quickly.

Brutus does suffer from separation anxiety but if you were abandoned on a gravel road in the middle of nowhere you would probably react the same. He panics in his crate at home but had no issues at boarding. He is leash trained but likes to be the leader and pull. With the little bit of work he has had already, he is making great progress.

COURTESY POST - WE HAVE NOT MET THESE DOGS.

This is the initial information we received from the family.

Apache and Lilly 5 year old siblings, neutered and spayed. Great with cats. They have a 6 year old human brother and a 5 year old human sister, so great with kids! No health issues They have a huge fenced yard but will bark at anything that goes by (Admin note: that is pretty easily rectified with the proper training).

They need some work on their leash manners.

I would wager that with some time, attention and training, Apache and Lilly will blossom 🙂

They are located in the Kootenays.

Kingston (fawn boy) is a recent addition to the foster ranks.

Brutus was dumped and is being fostered by his finder.

Our mandate is to try and get our dogs placed within a reasonable timeframe. Having them in foster care for months at a time means we are not available to help all the dogs who may need us. We are not setup to have fosters for an indeterminate amount of time.

Come on folks, please give us a hand in finding homes for these wonderful dogs.

I am still looking for my forever home and family.
I sure do hope my new family will be fun, outdoorsy, and active like me! I love my outside time and hope I'll get lots of backyard playtime and walks at my new home. I, admittedly, do need a little work on my leash manners, but with a little guidance and consistency, I know I'll be your perfect walking buddy in no time!

I know I will fit into just about an experienced home who is interested in adding a happy, friendly young dog to their family, as long as they don't mind continuing to work with me a bit. Just remember, please be patient with me while I settle into my new home and give me some time to learn our new routine together! In return, I promise you'll be getting the best doggie friend, companion, and sidekick you could ever hope for!

Did I mention that I am being fostered in a home with a cat and another dog? Yup, I am that perfect.

A letter from Tyson to his new family.

I am so happy that you are considering adopting me. My life before rescue was full of uncertainty. In rescue, I have been learning that people can be gentle and kind leaders. I really need guidance. If you won't be the leader, I will take over but I'll do a terrible job.

I need to learn that you'll protect me, feed me, exercise me and teach me the rules of our home.

For the first two weeks, I'll be excited and a bit overwhelmed. You may want to take me to meet all of your friends, show me where you work, take me shopping for clothes, collars, dog beds, treats and anything else my heart desires, but PLEASE DON'T. It's an awful lot for me to process all at once.

What I really need is to get to know my new home and family. And please, somebody show me who is in charge!! Lead me gently but don't pick me up and carry me if I freeze and stop moving. Luring me with treats is never a wrong strategy.

Food! I love food. I would like it if I could have breakfast and dinner in my kennel. Just a quiet meal where I don't have to worry about anyone taking it from me.
I have a bit of extra energy because I'm a little nervous and uncertain. At my foster's, I ran and played in the backyard, slept in a kennel and chewed on bones and toys.

Please no public dog parks.

Some dogs at the park are jerks. Maybe I'm a jerk sometimes, too.

If I have a new dog sister, I sure would like it if I could wait a little while to meet them.

If I could sleep in a kennel all by myself and take a few naps in it while my brother or sister is spending time with you, that would give me a chance to get used to the new smells and sounds in our home.

My kennel will be an important place for me. It would be nice if I could eat there so I know that nobody is going to mess with my food.

Changes are exciting and exhausting. Please protect me from overload. I have looked all over for you. I want to be everything you deserve.

If you can help introduce me slowly to my new life, over a couple of weeks, it would help me tremendously.

Stunning 18mth old Farah is looking for a new place to call home.

Farah came into foster care on March 15th from an owner who loved her but was unable to care for her.

Unfortunately as a puppy, she was never properly socialized which has shown up in her adult life.

Farah was born on September 26, 2022 and is a 47 pound svelte girl with loads of puppy energy. Farah loves to play catch with a rubber toy or a ball and actually brings it back three or four times before she finds something else that peaks her interest.

Farah is a very sweet, respectful young dog. The last two days, I have allowed her out with my small dogs for short spurts and she is very respectful and doesn’t resource guard anything at all. She is living with 2 Boston terriers and is great with them but sometimes her rambunctiousness is a bit much for them.

Farah loves men a lot. She is great with her foster mom and loves to cuddle but the men in the family are top dog to her!

Farah is nervous with new people, loud traffic noises and new situations (owing to her lack of early life experiences) but she is progressing nicely in her foster home and time, training and exposure will do wonders for her!

We have had Diesel in foster care for ONE YEAR!

It is incomprehensible that no one has stepped up for this boy. Sure he needs to be an only dog, but we've placed dozens of only dogs over the years.

Diesel. One Year. It's Time.
March 2023 - Cairo had just gone to his forever home and we were thinking about taking a break from fostering. But word came to BRC that a boxer boy was struggling in the Humane Society shelter. My dog-free resolve lasted two days.

Diesel has now been with us for a year. He has come a long way. He needs his own home.

It's time for him to show you that he is a fine companion, loves his people, playing, visitors, and snuggling.

It's time now he no longer barks at dogs through the window or in next door's yard.

It's time because he has great house manners, and loves going to the kennels he visits when we are away.

It's time because he's ready for someone to continue working on his leash manners.

It's time because he is cool enough to have his own beer!
