Good Dog Dog Training My name is Kathy Ellis, CPDT and I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College . Good Dog! Kathy has been an animal enthusiast all of her life.

Paws-i-tive Dog Training is certified dog trainer Dr. Kathryn (Kathy) Ellis. Like most of you ...she has owned both cats and dogs through out her childhood and adulthood. Afterall, life is not complete without the love and affection from our pets! Kathy Ellis, CPDTis a graduate of Animal Behavior College where she earned certification as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer. Animal Behavior College (ABC)

is approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education and is an internationally recognized school. Her year long commitment to this program provided her with a formal education in canine obedience training and understanding behavior and its motives. Her certification, education and experience provide her the skills required to effectively and humanely train dogs while keeping alive the spark that makes dogs so special. She is ACE Shelter and Rescue Care certified. Kathy's has spent over 25 years working and studying in the field of Education. She has been a Special Educator of students with very unique learning abilities. Her background knowledge and skills in teaching special learners has helped her tremendously in developing her focus for dog training. Studying and practicing within the field of Special Education has helped Kathy to develop her approach to working with dogs and dog owners. First, it is about relationships. Humans and dogs can only live together successfully when there are clear lines of communication. This is the basis of her family-oriented dog training. Humans must understand how our dogs communicate with us! And human companions, must clearly communicate their expectations to their canine friends! Kathy focuses on teaching the basic psychology of behavior and developing techniques that are in harmony with those mental processes and behavior. The initial focus of training is developing a healthy functioning relationship between owner and pet through motivating leadership and bonding activities. Additionally, Kathy focuses on creating an environment that is rich in stimulation to help your dog grow to be a happy and content creature. Positive motivational techniques are implemented to help decrease and eliminate those unwanted, undesirable behaviors from dogs while we help people to curb their dog's unwanted, undesirable habits and behaviors. Positive training methods are both effective and humane. However, "one size fits all" does not fit every situation. Kathy works diligently to create a training program for each client that is specific to the dog and human's specific needs.

Classes and Training Packages:

Ready Rover-Puppy PreK/K 4 weeks Once/week Total $55
The first 6 months of a puppy’s life is a critical window of his/her development. The puppy’s exposure to a variety of safe and nurturing activities and people can help your dog become the puppy you want him/her to be for the rest of his/her life. This is a crucial stage for providing leadership for your pup while building a lasting bond. Ready Rover PreK/K provides your puppy with a safe and organized means of socializing with other puppies. (All puppies must be up-to-date on vaccinations and disease/parasite free. Classes will be conducted on cleaned and disinfected indoor areas.) Socialization is encouraged through play with people, other puppies and a variety of supervised toys and activities. Class will also cover basics for establishing a good foundation for your puppy’s successful integration into your home: socialization, good manners, housebreaking, greetings, feeding, ear and teeth care and grooming.

Pint-sized Pups! 6 weeks long Once/week Total $115
This basic obedience class is tailored to meet the needs of owners of small dogs (toy breeds, etc.) size 20 lbs. and under. Owners and dogs will learn basic obedience cues such as sit, down, off, wait and focus. Specific attention will be given to the skills of loose-leash walking, close, and come. There is an added concentration of socialization with other dogs and other people. Class will also cover basic issues that many owners of small dogs encounter such as excessive barking, mild separation anxiety, begging, biting, possessiveness, exhibition of mild fear and anxiety.*(Please note that moderate to severe cases of any of these issues may better be addressed through in-home consultation and problem-solving.)

Doggie Basics 6 weeks long Once/week Total $115
This is a basic obedience class for the novice dog owner or owner of a new dog. Owners will learn fundamentals of how dogs learn and communicate. Dogs and humans will learn simple cues that will help make your lives together much more fun and safe (focus, watch, sit, down, wait, stay, come, and leave it). Dogs and humans will practice skills of loose leash walking with a focus on the cue close. Special attention will be given to issues of crate training, housebreaking, greetings, preventing destruction and time management.

Intermediate Dog Obedience 6 weeks Once/week Total $125
This class is one level up from Doggie Basics. Many of the same cues are taught and reinforced with the focus being on increase in duration, distance, and distractions to make cues and skills more challenging. Dog and human will learn more complex repertoire of skills (sit-down-stand; down in motion, etc.) along with cues such as trade, back, go place and let’s go. Dogs begin to learn initial targeting skills, on-leash greetings and recall with a long lead.

Advanced Obedience 8 weeks Once/week Total $145
As in the Intermediate Obedience class, this class also raises the intensity of duration, distance, and distractions to make cues and skills more challenging. Dogs and humans continue to learn more complex repertoire of skills (sit-stand-to the front; sit-down-side, etc.) Dogs continue to practice targeting skills. Dogs and humans work on off-leash walking and recall along with fun tricks.

Characteristics of safe and dangerous dogs will be discussed as children view video clips. Children will practice safe approaches and responses to model dogs. At least one parent or guardian must accompany the child. (Actual dogs are used in this training)

In-Home Consultations (Individual & Family-focused) $115 for up to 2 hour session
