What is a marker? Why do we use them?

Using a marker (like a clicker or a consistent word such as “Yes!”) is one of the most powerful tools you can add to your training.

A marker acts like a snapshot in time—it tells your dog, “That! What you just did right there is what earns the reward.” This makes it crystal clear to your dog which behavior you’re reinforcing, even if the treat comes a second or two later.

Kane and Kilo came to us to work on their manners and learn better self-control around each other.

Living in the same household can sometimes make it tricky for dogs to focus, especially when excitement or competition kicks in. Through structured training, clear communication, and consistent boundaries, they’re learning how to stay calm, focus, and make good choices, even with their buddy right beside them. 👏

Moments like these show just how much progress is possible with the right guidance and practice. 🙌

We’re so excited to have not one, not two, but four of these sweet Cresteds with us, all from the same family! The two older pups are about a year old, full of personality and starting to step into young adulthood. Their younger siblings are still puppies, just beginning their journey with us and discovering the big wide world of training, structure, and fun.

What makes this extra special is watching them experience our training programs together. It’snot just about obedience commands (sit, stay, heel) but about building the foundation for a confident, cooperative, and happy life.

Here’s what their days look like with us:

�🌟 Socialization — meeting new dogs, people, and environments so they can feel comfortable anywhere.

�🌟 Confidence building — helping shy or cautious pups try new things and discover what they’re capable of.

�🌟 Agility & enrichment activities — keeping their bodies active and their minds engaged.

Last week was a week full of field trips for some of our advanced campers! Pongo, Layla, Ness, Spirit, and Kane all practiced their life skills out and about as they prepare to head back home to their families. From enjoying shaved ice to ignoring lots of distractions, these dogs all rocked it!

Training doesn’t end at graduation!

Our graduates came back together for a fun challenge during group class — Carry the Cup! The game? Heel your dog while carrying a cup full of water, and move as fast as you can without spilling. 💦 Sounds simple… until your dog starts pulling! It’s the ultimate test of loose leash walking and teamwork.

These group classes are all about strengthening focus, building skills, and having fun — and they’re available exclusively to our graduates.
