Our Story:

NEW HORIZON DOG RESCUE focuses on the salvation of dogs in impoverished, rural animal control facilities. These dogs are the forgotten. These dogs originally hailed from areas where veterinary care is not readily available, nor once taken by animal control, the animal control facilities also do not provide these dogs veterinary care; thus, when these dogs arrive to us via paid transpor

t they are in poor health. Once we fully rehabilitate to bring their health and stamina to optimum, our organization funds the veterinary costs for heartworm testing, full vaccination, spay/neuter and microchip. The Value of Life. The Value of Love.

John Enger's 19-year-old dog Shep suffers from chronic arthritis. The pain in Shep's joints is so severe he is unable to sleep.

To save Shep from his torments, veterinarians offered a lethal injection. However, John cannot do that to his friend who saved him from su***de in the past.

And now, to ease Shep's pain John Enger carries Shep to the lake every day, holding Shep in his arms for several hours, providing Shep enough comfort to be able to sleep.
