Releashed Rescue is a licensed 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing huskies and other working dogs from high-kill shelters, rehabilitating those that need training and rehoming them into permanent loving homes. Releashed Rescue will provide food, shelter, basic necessities, medical treatment including shots and spay or neuter, and work to train any animal going through our program.

Our goal is to find the right family to love and care for the animals for their lifetime. Releashed Rescue has a vision of a world where animals are not killed because they are inconvenient. Instead, we hope to educate the public about pet over-population, spay , neuter, humane treatment of animals and how animals can enrich the lives of people including the elderly, children and those with disabilities.

Meet Thor: Your Handsome, sweet and friendly gentle giant!

Thor is an extra large (weighing close to 100)extra sweet charming and spirited boy who loves to hang out with his people. Thor has a constant tail, wagging with humans and other dogs. Thor is thought to be 7-9 years old. He enjoys walks and pets. He would love to have a doggy friend, but most of our dogs are intimidated by his large size. He is eager to please, Thor is currently learning to sit and shake—especially when treats are involved! He is extremely vocal and loves to follow his human everywhere.

It has been a long time since I thought: this dog is so good that I don’t want to give her up! But there are exceptions that creep into our rescue at times and mama Katie is the exception. I changed her name to Katie because it was the name of my first dog and did I love Katie! Katie is a sweetheart. She loves her people. Katie is calm. She is happy to do a few laps around the yard and then she comes in for a nice nap. Of course she’s extremely treat motivated so she should be easily trainable. Katie’s good with other dogs she used to live with a potbelly pig. I can’t find anything wrong with this girl, please somebody adopt her before I do!

How could someone turn in their 12-year-old dog to Animal Control? Kovu and Memphis have left the animal Control building. They are a bonded pair that were turned into a local Animal Control in April. They’re super sweet. Kovu has never met a stranger. Memphis warms up fast. Kovu is 12 years old and Memphis is 5. They are listed as husky malamute mix and they are very tall but both very thin.
We are looking for a Foster or Adopter that can keep the pair together. Previous owner said they are selective with other dogs, but the animal shelter volunteers said they never saw any dog reactivity.

We are getting into the Dog days of summer, so why not get a dog? Nolan is the perfect companion. Nolan is sweet, kind and a laid-back kind of guy. He weighs about 70 pounds. Nolan loves other laid-back dogs and his humans. He has the goofiest personality and loves attention and cuddles. Nolan walks well on a leash except when he sees deer or other critters, but he still is easy to redirect. He loves his morning walk and will come home and take a nice nap. Nolan’s little floppy ears give him such personality. His foster home adores him. He is very food driven so he is easy to train as long as he’s interested in what you’re training him to do. He is around 3years old. Can you give Nolan a comfy place to lay his head?

We are getting into the Dog days of summer, so why not get a dog? Aspen will make the perfect companion in the right home, but I’m not sure where those homes have gone? Aspen is ALL husky. He has the goofiest grin and loves attention and cuddles. He only has two speeds zero and 100. Aspen can pull your sled, he can pull your car, and he can pull you up the hill. He has the cutest personality and loves games in the yard. He is very food driven so he is easy to train as long as he’s interested in what you’re training him to do. He is around 2-3years old He walks well on a leash after the first half mile. Where are my hikers, bikers or runners?

It’s the first day of summer and it’s time to adopt a . I have four absolutely wonderful dogs that will make perfect companions in the right home, but I’m not sure where those homes have gone? All have been in the program 6 or more months. We will be highlighting those four in the next several days today’s feature Puppy is Kenai. Go big or go home. Meet Kenai an extra large purebred Siberian husky, we did the DNA. Kenai is around three years old and professionally trained. That training can be updated with the new owner. He walks well on a leash, he knows place, and will stay in it most of the time. Haha He talks nonstop, better not tell him any secrets. He behaves in the bath and for a blow out without problems. Where are my big dog people?

Please welcome Chance, a blossoming 4-5 year old boy in need of a
Second chance at love. Chance has made an amazing transformation in his foster home. His foster says,
I don’t think he has ever had a human bond or trusting relationship before.
His reactions to everything make it clear that everything is new to him. He was like a giant puppy when I started the dishwasher the first time, staring at it and turning his head like he was trying to figure it out or that he was anticipating it to do something from the noise.

He is calm. He doesn't try to destroy the house or the furniture. He is good with a large fenced in yard, but I don't think that is something he would absolutely need for a new owner to have. He is just great with other dogs, but I think he is also an option for an adopter that is seeking an "only dog."
Chance just wants to chew bones and get his belly scratched.

He is super intelligent so I know he will learn all the things with the right teacher.

So, what do you say? Ready to give this fluffy guy another shot at a forever home? I’m here, patiently waiting for my second Chance!

Heyyyy Puppy Fans! My name is Peanut. I am 10 week old female puppy. I was dumped out a car in rural GA, but luckily found my way to Releashed Reacue! I’m currently recovering from a broken leg, but healing up well. The vet said I should be in tip top shape in a few weeks.

They’re not sure what my breed mix is, but my foster mom says I’m 100% a good girl and that’s all that matters. If you couldn’t tell, I LOVE to cuddle.

I currently weigh a little over 10 pounds and will likely be 40-60 lbs when full grown.

If you’d like to adopt me, fill out an application in our website!

I’m Aspen, a spirited male Siberian husky that loves other dogs and humans. Aspen has had a rough start to life. Aspen somehow ended up in two different animal controls in the past three months. We think he is a fantastic boy but he got into trouble because he’s a husky. Aspen has tons of energy that he needs an outlet. Aspen’s energy mirrors the energy of the household. As long as he gets regular exercise, he also loves to lay around with his humans. Aspen has a fluffy coat, boundless energy, and a heart full of love. He will make a perfect companion for the right family. Could that be you?

SENIOR IN NEED: Skye was adopted 10 years ago when she was 1-2 years fast forward 10 years and her owner is having health issues and can’t keep her. Here’s what her owner says: In August 2014 we adopted Skye. She is an extremely friendly dog and loves all ages of humans. She would love a more active life than I can give her now. She loves to curl up next to you and soak up belly rubs and asks for more. She eats dry food only and has kept her figure all these years. She gets 1/2 cup of dry food twice a day and treats after all walks and sometimes during the day. She would keep eating anything in sight if I left her to it but I like to keep her weight in the healthy range. Her weight is 46 lbs.
Skye was vetted by Hospice for their Pet visitor program and passed with flying colors!!

Lola is a very sweet puppy, about a year old now. She is gentle and sweet with adults and children and has no food or treat aggression. She walks well on a leash and can sit and lay down. She’s wonderful with other dogs and does amazing at doggie daycare. She does hate being crated and will be very vocal about it. She is 80% potty trained but can still have accidents if not monitored while inside. She loves to sleep with you at night. She’s great on walks but cannot be left in the yard unsupervised or she will dig to China. Lola needs a home with someone who can spend time with her and give her the love she deserves.

Hello! My name is Minnie Lucille McDogglestuff, or Lucy for short.
I’m a Border Collie Sheltie Mix of awesome in a pint size 20 lb package. I am THE amazing co-piolot / passenger princess / ride or die you’ve been searching for. I LOVE to travel and I’m SO GOOD at it. I keep my opinions about your terrible driving to myself, don’t get carsick and barf, and I am an expert at hoovering up any left-over crumbs that fall out of your to-go order. Since staying with my foster mom, she’s taken me on road trips to South Carolina, Florida and south Georgia. I received 5 stars on my behaviors chart on all 3 trips.

I’m an awesome TriPaw, and while I only have 3 legs, you would never know that I’m not a miniature greyhound sporting a fur coat. I can run FAST and I do everything my 4 legged compadres do. I’m 1 year old, which is 7 in dog years….in case you don’t know dog math. I’m looking for a home where I can be the center of your world, or at minimum a human that makes me believe I am. A dog friend to play with would be a super cool too…okay, pretty much a requirement along with ear scratches. I will also require a fresh organic carrot as my pre-bedtime snack each night. I will eat my low-cal carrot while watching and judging you as you finish off that entire bag of Cheetos just before swimsuit season.
You’re probably wondering how I got here…. Last year I was either run over by a monster truck, an 18 wheeler or stepped on by an elephant. Anyway, my previous owner didn’t take me to the vet to get my leg fixed and the break was still broke and all the muscle atrophied. Then, I ended up at the shelter, because, duh, bad humans…. The shelter called up Releashed Rescue who took me in and paid a zillion dollars to the vet to got my leg fixed. Speaking of the zillion dollars, could each of you throw $5 RR’s way to help pay off my vet bill?

I’m good with all dogs and cats, and just so you know, I totally hang with the big dogs. My most favorite fur friend ever is my foster brother who’s a 2 yr old 85 lb German Shephard. We play HARD and I believe playtime should be 24/7, however, I do know how to respect my dog elders and the cat and leave them alone. I’m crate trained, know sit and doing really great at this house training thing – I’ve been working really hard on my door bell training. I also prefer to hold the leash myself on walks and lounge in the cart while on shopping adventures.

Did I mention that I love to travel? I’m also 20 lbs. Do you know what that means?!?! I can FLY IN THE CABIN WITH YOU! I’ll go get my roller board, you call the Uber, we will be in Key West by sunset!

-------------------------------------------------------

TriPaw’s are just like any other dog and after a week or two you will forget they are missing a leg.
The most important thing to remember is that you manage TriPaw’s weight and not let them get overweight. They will tire a bit easier than 4 leggers, but can do everything any other dog can do. After a hike of a mile or so, she may need to ride / rest for a bit in a doggie backpack carrier. If you have hardwood floors and stairs, she may need carpet treads (available on amazon) or socks with rubber grippers to help get up once she is much OLDER. Lucy has zero mobility issues now.

Our sweet Minnie girl is having her leg amputated today. She had an old injury that has caused atrophy. This is an unexpected expense for us. Please donate to help cover her medical expenses. We have been given a rough quote of $1500.

Minnie is a small 20 pound girl who gets along well with all dogs, has lived with cats, LOVES people and being carried around. She appreciates anything you can do to help.
