TODAY is the last day to place an order for our first shipping window.

As a collective of farmers we are careful to manage our time. Last week we gathered at .seed.cafe to pack our seeds into packets.

On Feb 20 we will meet again to fill envelopes and ship all the orders placed by end of day, Feb 14.

The seed shop will stay open through March 20 and we'll gather to mail the remaining orders!

Then we'll all be focused on farming and growing more seeds for next year!!

100% we love to be in the garden and geeking out on plants, but we do our work because of a set of values and a vision that has always been posted here.

EAT South is an urban teaching farm that engages our community by gathering people around, educating about and growing good food. We empower people to change the way food travels from the ground to our plates.

When USAID buys corn, rice, and wheat, who gets paid? American farmers. I'd say look it up, but their websites are all down.

The founders of sustainable agriculture grew here! Thank you West Montgomery Action Committee for giving Montgomery this mural!

In honor of Black History Month, join us in celebrating an unsung hero from our community Dr. Booker T. Whatley. Dr. Whatley was an influential horticulturist and agricultural professor at Tuskegee University in Alabama. Born on November 5, 1915, in Calhoun County, Alabama, he was a pioneer of sustainable agriculture in the post-World War II era. He is best known for his regenerative farming system and the concept of "pick-your-own" (PYO), where customers could harvest crops themselves.

Whatley also popularized the idea of subscription buyers clubs for small farmers, which later evolved into what we know today as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). His work aimed to help small farmers achieve financial sustainability and independence. Let’s recognize his contributions and honor the impact he's made on our lives.

We also encourage you to stop by our mural featuring Dr. Booker T. Whatley and take some pictures. It’s a great way to celebrate his contributions and share his legacy with others. It's located at 2144 Council St. Montgomery, Alabama, 36108 across from Freewill Missionary Baptist Church.
