What a beautiful evening to rotate cows to the north pasture!! I love that all I have to do is call for them and they’ll come running!👍
This feral kitten life is about to change I’m thinking…🥰
Someone loves to ride in the tractor!!🥰
I saw this very pregnant young cat in Grand Coulee, Wa. the other day. She hangs out behind the Siam Palace with some other feral cats and goes up to the apartments by Les Schwab hoping someone will put food out for her.
I felt kind of bad for her waddling across the road so pregnant and not having a warm place to have her babies so I told Britta Belgarde and Karyn Byam Payne if they’d catch her I’d put her in my cat room so that she and the babies will be safe and warm!
I got word from Britta Saturday night about 10:30pm that she caught mama cat in the trap! So I jumped in the car and drove to the dam to pick up the feral pregnant feline and got home about midnight.
Well this morning she became the proud mama of three little baby kittens and some how miraculously snapped out of whatever feral curse possessed her! This cat was purring and snuggling into my touch and so happy to be a new mama I couldn’t believe she didn’t want to eat my face off when I touched her new babies.
I think someone said it got down to 20 degrees last night so I have them bedded down in a box with a soft blanket and under a heat lamp living the good life!! And NO I don’t want anymore cats and NO I don’t have anymore room in my cat room for more, I did my community cat service and helped this one. Eventually I will find this little family a good home but for now I thought I’d share her happy story and hopefully brighten your day!!! ❤️
I guess someone wants to ride in the tractor today….🐓🐓🐓
There was a full house at the new school open house in Almira, Washington today!! It took just under 2 years to complete the school after the fire on October 12th 2021. Garco did an amazing job!! It is above and beyond what I thought was going to replace that 70 year old brick school that graduated many students in years past.
Here’s to the next generations of Warrior kids who are blessed to learn in such an amazing building!! ❤️
A big thank you to Dave Beaver and TKB Trucking from Wilbur, Wa. and my 90 year old uncle Allyn Hughes and Hughes Farms from Almira, Wa. And all of you who donated some money to help the fire victims up by Spokane, Wa.!! We have a donated load of wonderful hay heading to a ranch affected by the Medical Lake fire to help feed 250 head of cattle without any fall pasture to graze on. This load will help those cattle until they can hopefully find some available pasture.
If anyone knows of an irrigated circle that could be fenced or pasture that could be utilized by these cattle please PM me and I’ll get you in touch with Staci Landt at Flying S Ranch near Cheney, Wa. Thanks again for your kindness!! It takes a village to help make a difference for these folks affected by the wildfires. May God bless you all!! ❤️
Does anyone remember the baby porcupine I found waddling down the side of the snowy road December 13th 2022? Well she went to a rehabber and got her freedom back into the wild on the 4th of July…Indepence Day!! I wish you well baby Dirt Clod! ❤️
Random things you see when you’re out walking your dogs…Mike went from Mansfield to Lind to Davenport and landed next to the farm north of Almira, Wa. Good for him!! That’s a long ways!!! 😊
Here’s your hint for those of you who can’t see it…
Wednesday 3am Update: still only the one baby. I guess my cows are just fat! I thought for sure there would be two babies. I’ll take one fat cow and one healthy baby any day!! 💕 Only one more fat cow left to calve to finish out the season. Woohoo!!
Tuesday 11:45pm Second to last cow just had her baby. I have a hunch since she had twins last year and she looked like she could give birth to a baby elephant before this one came out that there’s one more baby still inside...🤷♂️
This little guy comes up to me for some love every morning. He’s pretty sweet! 🥰
Taco had her baby today!! Great timing with the baby still in the sack. I’ve had a lot of babies this year still in the placenta sack and luckily got there in time to cut it off so they could breath! Whew!! I think I’ve got about 20 left to calve. It was like spring today!! 🌷🌷🌷Come on babies!! I’m ready for a full nights sleep!! 💤💤💤💤
Someone’s getting to try out the new wood stove…
Here’s your calf being born video for the day. I’ve had lots of babies come out with the sack still over their face or their body still fully engulfed in the thick placenta. If you come out and find a dead calf that looks like it should be perfectly healthy and alive but isn’t, it’s probably because mama didn’t get up fast enough to clean the placenta off the baby in time and the baby drown or suffocated. As soon as that umbilical cord breaks the baby takes it’s first breath. If it’s still in the placenta sack that first breath is full of fluid and no oxygen which will drown or suffocate the baby. That’s why I always carry a knife in my pocket and try to cut the sack off the babys head if I can. Some babies aren’t always so lucky but this one was!! ❤️
