Was finally able to get to my personal projects the other day and got to work Firefly for a little bit so her potential new mom could see her movement. And even tho this particular video was not that I think this is what sealed the deal cause after I sent this she asked for a copy of our adoption contract and where she could send a hold deposit ❤️ Our Beautiful girl will be going home to Colorado in mid August and to a positive reinforcement trainer too! So happy for these ladies

They say the best things in life are free.... well, sometimes they are $25. I love this guy. He's always just wanted to hold space with me during this hard time in my life. I'm not ok, and even with him being fresh out of the wild, he keeps trying to connect and be there. He's so adamant on. "Hey, im here. I want attention." I love this boy he's been helping me so much since Brooks passing. I feel like he was sent to help me heal ❤️
Before I have people being rude, I got him prior to Brooks getting sick. so I didn't just go out and get more projects he has been here. I've just honestly been too depressed to post.

Brooks update and fun fact of the day, too.
Brooks is still doing about the same as yesterday. we've been giving him banamine once every 24 hours, and it seems to be helping with the foaming and drooling, so I do think it is a pain response. He is still lying down. we haven't had manure in 48 hours he was really excited for carrots and treats, but he doesn't want to eat his hay or grain. Gave him some more meds this evening, and if we don't have any more manure, we're going to try a trailer ride tomorrow morning to see if we can get him to go.
For your fun fact, psyllium does not like to dissolve and be a nice mash. When you add water, it gels and expands, which is probably what makes it great for getting rid of sand out of the intestines of horses and donkeys. The more you know!

She sure does know how to make a rough day a little bit brighter. Brooks had regressed some. He's just laid flat out and slept several times again today. He's foaming and drooling, which we are now thinking is a pain response, so he got more of his banamine meds. We are trying to limit how much we give him because they are so hard on his stomach that he already has ulcers in and causing him pain. We got no manure today, and his appetite has decreased 🥺 I just want my buddy better.

We are back home from the vet with some good news!! And gosh, we sure needed it ❤️ Huge thank you to Nova's(my first mustang who started it all) mom who was able to squeeze us in on a packed Tuesday and then again today and the amazing Dr and staff who are fighting so hard to help Brooks ❤️ thank you everyone who has donated we really appreciate your help! We have 850 to go, and that's not including his medications for the next 30 days, possibly longer.

Finally, home. We have lots of meds on board and got 5000ML of IV fluids, plus he drank 5 buckets of water at the vets! During his rectal scope, we found very little manure and, thankfully, no blockages. The vet did extract some of that manure, and it was hard, and when we floated it, we found sand 😩. His diagnosis is dehydration, sand colic, and ulcers. Now that we have meds and fluids in him, he has perked up and is trying to eat. Brooks is on a mash only diet for now. So he will get many small meals throughout the day and night to keep him hydrated. Hopefully, we can get the sand moving out of his gut so the ulcers can heal. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. His vet bill, as of right now, is 920.77. If you would like to help with the cost, any amount is greatly appreciated.

It's not always the hard sessions that make the connection. It's not always the hours of blo0d sweat and tears. Sometimes, it's the small moments of consideration of their feelingings built up over time that make the breakthrough; It's the showing up consistently every day with kindness and compassion. And sometimes, you make that connection during the mundane tasks. I was cleaning stalls this morning; we finally had a moment where she wanted to be loved. She made the first initiative to be pet, and now that she's decided she likes it, we got her BLM tag off, and she meets me at the fence for more pets and follows me around everywhere I go ❤️

Oh my gosh, I just absolutely love these girls ❤️ they are so amazing! They are even starting to call to us in the mornings! I have never had Burrows warm up this quickly to humans, especially the 17-year-old she is the most Brave out of the three. I love them so much already. Their adopter did unfortunately fall through, so if you are searching for a burro, these ladies are available. Rescuing wild Mustangs and wild Burros does not begin at the slaughter pipeline. It all begins on the Range and what we can do to keep the mustangs and burros Wild and Free while implementing Humane on range management. But as a rescue and advocate, we know that sometimes Management on the Range is not always possible and gathers are needed. When gathers are done, the horses in holding need us to step up and be there for them. And once we take a wild one into our lives, it's really important that if we do something that we can not do, we ask for help. The owner of these horses is a very amazing trainer, but when too much of life happened, she did the very best thing that you could do. And that is ask for help. It was a very emotional day picking up these three but I was asked to take them train them and re-home them because they knew that I would find the best homes for them so that they would not end up in the slaughter pipeline where they would need to be rescued. Where they would need to be healed from the unnecessary trauma. All of our gathered Mustangs and Burros deserve a life where all they know is love and compassion.
I unfortunately, at this time, I can not take in any more permanent sanctuary residence, so being able to train Mustangs and help place them into homes is the next best thing I can do. Well well well what do we have here? Yes, we finally have our burros that I teased earlier in the week. We've just had so many things come up that have delayed their pickup, but the Mother's Day Burros are here. These girls are 7, 16, and 17 years old. I had a adopter reach out to me letting me know that her horses friend had passed away and she is looking to add some donkeys to her herd so we were able to grab some donkeys down from the Florence Bureau of Land Management holding facility and we are going to train them and get them a whole new life ❤️ their potential adopter is not picky on names so I will be going through previous posts and pulling the most like names and we will be doing a name reveal here over the next few days as I get to learn their personalities. But just look at them, aren't they so precious ❤️🫏
