Dianesk9creations creating high quality hand made products for your pets. D.K.C does not sew four sides and call it a dog cot.

Dianes k9 creations has specialized in designing and fabricating high quality products that are built to last. Our products are made using marine grade canvas, two types of outdoor mesh or an extremely durable two sided vinyl coated material that features an internal mesh for superior strength. All of our products are constructed of ultra violet, mold and mildew resistant materials that are abrasi

on resistant. Along with marine binding, reinforcement is added to increase the strength of our products. Three of the four sides are sewed three times and the fourth has been designed for the ease of the buyer to put together. These dog cots take between six to sixteen hours to finish. A true labor of love. The nuts and bolts of our products are the thread. We only sew with the highest quality synthetic thread. No cotton, only marine grade thread and zippers are used. We are firm believers that "You get what you pay for".

Our date to reopen for the fall season has been pushed back until 11/1, we apologize for any inconvenience. We will remain open throughout the year, even during winter. A track will be plowed in the snow so that even little pups can enjoy the snow. We've added a 12X12 gazebo with curtains and a 48,000 BTU heater, so do not let the inclement weather discourage you from visiting with us.

Updated pictures of the new amenities will be posted this week, as well as some of the beautiful fall colors. **Please note** The bonfire pit will remain closed during dry/windy days until the surrounding agriculture fields have been harvested.

Lastly, we know that many of you struggle with reactive dogs, we truly feel your pain. Our family had a similar problem with one of our Goldens before he passed away (see below, Mr. Gary on the left). He was a total lover to humans, but would instantly fight any dog he crossed paths with. It was impossible to take him anywhere and I can only imagine how nice it would have been to have Sniffspot available back then. We're so very happy that we've been able to offer a solution to those in need; nothing makes us happier than seeing the precious photos our guests have shared online.

You have to be brave and go by yourself. Follow this road until you come to a bridge. On the other side of the bridge you will see a magnificent rainbow. Wait for me there. Some day soon I will come and find you.

SO JUST HOW LONG DO YOUR PET’S SHOTS LAST?

Definitely longer than a year!

According to the top pet immunologist (aka vaccine expert) in the world, Dr. Ronald Schultz, Ph.D. – “ Annual revaccination provides no benefit and may increase the risk for adverse reactions.”

What the heck are adverse reactions (or side effects)?

Well according to the other rock star pet immunologist Dr. Jean Dodds:

“Side effects from dog vaccinations can occur anywhere from instantly up to several weeks or months later. Vaccines can even cause susceptibility to chronic diseases that appear much later in a dog’s life (Dodd, 2001).

Severe and fatal adverse reactions include:

•Susceptibility to infections.

•Neurological disorders and encephalitis.

•Aberrant behavior, including unprovoked aggression.

•Vaccines are linked to seizures. Distemper, parvovirus, rabies and, presumably, other vaccines have been linked with poly neuropathy, a nerve disease that involves inflammation of several nerves. (Dodds,2001)”

SO HOW LONG EXACTLY DOES YOUR PET’S VACCINE LAST?

According to the recommendations of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), (basically the dudes who set the standards for the vets): “Among healthy dogs, all commercially available [core] vaccines are expected to induce a sustained protective immune response lasting at least 5 yr. thereafter”

Here’s the breakdown of the core vaccines from Dr. Ronald Schultz:

Minimum Duration of Immunity for Canine Vaccines:

Distemper- 7 years by challenge
Parvovirus – 7 years by challenge
Adenovirus – 7 years by challenge
Canine rabies – 3 years by challenge

The moral of the story here, if you have no idea when your pet is due or has been vaccinated, then just run a titer test and this will confirm if you are due, rather than over-vaccinate your poor pet, setting the stage for future problems!

What’s a titer test?

A titer test (pronounced tight-errr) is a laboratory or in-house veterinary test measuring the existence and level of antibodies (necessary to fight off disease) in your pet’s blood. Basically, it’s a test that will tell you whether or not you actually need to vaccinate your pet.

It’s also super useful when making a decision about vaccinating a pet with an unknown vaccination history, or for determining if pets have received immunity from vaccination.

Vaccinating your pet is super important so don’t lose the overall message here: VACCINATE, JUST DON’T OVER-VACCINATE!

According to Dr. Dodds:

“Vaccines have achieved many important benefits for companion animals, and has saved more animals' lives than any other medical advance.”

A Man and His Dog

The following story: A Man and His Dog Go To Heaven, is an adaptation of the wonderful tale by Earl Hamner Jr., an American television writer and producer.

This particular tale came from one of his teleplays for the Twilight Zone series titled - The Hunt, which originally aired on January 26, 1962. The story is about a man named Hyder Simpson, who refuses to go into heaven unless he can take his dog Rip with him.

And so the story goes...

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them..
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'. The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'
