Last night, this was 100% a choice as he was coherent and watching the world go by, wagging his tail if approached. He was just too cozy to commit to getting out of bed 😂.

The rest of his mouth was very healthy minus the bad 109 and 209 so hopefully no more dental work for a good long time!

When mom can successfully get the 2 bad molars out of the old boy but is never successful at remembering not to feed him breakfast, Jake has to step in.

The note was highly effective.

The problem? Leinie sleeps next door to V***n. And v***n screams bloody dementia murder for breakfast way before enough coffee is consumed to process her words. Therefore she is fed FAST to shut her up, because she's 1000 yrs old so it's not like waiting her out will fix the behavior. And since Leinie is her neighbor he's fed at the same time. So I fail at this, a lot.

This morning, I saw this magnetic chore list on the counter and my uncaffeinated gut reaction was annoyed he left it out and didn't put it back on the front of the wash machine where it goes after I saw him playing with it last night. Then my eyes adjusted and I read it and I was like ooooooooh, good call child, leave it in the way of the food bowls ✅️

So anyway, dental is done, old man is waking up🐾🦷

We've been playing a game amongst the family and employees. I love it, others think I'm nuts. But alas. The goal is matching dog (or % of breeds in dog) with country of origin.

Countries are as follows:

USA (hint, every American is only a %)

Siberia

Back in fall when it went from 80 degrees to very cold, their water tank froze before we put a heater in it. No big deal we gave them a different plug bucket as it's just these two and 2 Nigerian dwarf goats in there this winter.

However, since it froze solid, Winston thinks it is the BEST chair.

So in case you think he's cold when it's zero out, he actively chooses to put his 🥜🥜 on an ice block. ❄️🐾🤷‍♀️

The extent of photos from today 🤷‍♀️ running from place to place and left my phone at the set up. Lucky for me Anna Steele Doornink shared her picture too!

We had fun bumping into old friends as it's been awhile (6+yrs) since we made the trek to St Paul in January. Overall things went smoothly travel wise.

Around 9 years ago Leinie and Goose (Mike, Star, and Colyn) shared the weekend for breed wins so it was bittersweet to have them split the day with 10+ veteran wins, with Leinie taking 2nd in sweeps and then winning his veteran class in the specialty. He had a blast being on display again❤️🐾

Pickerelpants got us a ribbon with the Best in Field sweeps win from the whateverthehigherlevelfieldclass is class. Thanks Chris and Carla M Spikberg for sponsoring the trophy, we loved watching Icy show :)

Biggy made the cut in breed in a deep lineup and showed like a little rockstar( Jenna Peretto ). Journey held her own in her bred by class and Angus was 2nd place at everything today except for being the best idiot and deciding to jump entirely on the trophy table and spew things as we were casually passing it en route to the ring. Pike is way too serious for that behavior so I blame his grandpa and Megan Hanson or Ben Ttom for that stunt 🤦‍♀️

Anna and Bobby took select dog in the specialty as well. Journey and Bobby are equal in their chaos so it's always adventure when the 2 singletons meet again 😂

Averi Schwersenska and Bruce were tearing it up and Bog the Dog bracco trotted all the way to MN to still be the only one entered but did well in a big venue and a downtown show.

Thanks also to Averi and Madeline Schopf for another crazy road trip and help with the latenight client progesterone test before I let them off the hook for the day! We laugh too much every time, as always, the van continues to see some things.

☕️the Land O Lakes KC still has the best coffee cart so also thanks to that americano for getting me thru the day.

Going thru all the darn effort tonight and tmrw of cold, dark, hauling gear in, then back out etc etc...

All for these boys! Thanks Jenna for spiffing up our non regulars for the specialty tmrw.

In a discussion of having a preference "type" of dog yesterday, i said to maddie "how does that fit me? I'm the queen of owning a ton of different breeds?"

She said "everything you like has purpose and function, is correct and can do it's job" so I guess my "type" is driven by an appreciation for form and function.

So non regulars is where the party is at for us this specialty! Tho we are not discussing how our field entry is also a veteran 😬🐾

Taking full advantage of a warm sunny day!

These two weirdos (Alaskans) came for a play date and helped guide Sako to a 13 mile run today.

The expert hand of the contractor turned Maple and Winston's door into a Dutch door to help keep the wind down for the winter, so the big dogs had a great day "helping" with the project in their space.

And dum dum decided the suddenly snowless trails and fields were too much for his teenage brain and ran away for 2.5 hrs with zero regrets. I did however get a lovely hour long ride on Ranger Bean while looking for him only to have him come home 5 minutes after I put the pony up.

Trapping season has begun around here 🦫. Packaged up almost 40 pounds of ground venison scraps for the sled dogs, so Onward to beaver snacks.

Meanwhile, cheech and chong over there looking up to no good in the sun this weekend. ☀️🐾

Last may we took apart our old roadside purchase years ago dog sled and planned to refinish it and rebuild this summer (it was held together with varnish and electrical tape and had a big crack in one piece). We sanded a couple pieces but EBC saved the day and sanded down the wood and remade the runners. After linseed oiling and staining all the pieces, Ben, Eric, and Maddie put it all back together again Friday. I provided a "not terrible" dinner but otherwise was of little help bc I am spatially inept.

Today we got to add our new sled bag and hit the snow on a last minute private trail loop and the dogs had a blast! Ben will have more pics to come I am sure.

Good little baby dog

We've made it about 36 hrs not wearing a 24 7 leash bc I can now touch near her enough to take it on and off. This morning she licked Sako's nose. Progress 🤷‍♀️

3rd day in a row now that she can exercise again. Also her second day on her fluoxetine trial. 1. Her kennel charging at other dogs had no growling or teeth clacking, it was mostly edgy exuberance and overstimulated tail wags. 2. Last night she came out willingly and performed the 2 commands she knows, sit and shake for a treat- no other dogs or people around. 3. This morning she came out on her own with an extra person and dog present and did her two commands for a treat and actually jumped up on me when she was excited. 4. Yesterday she ran 2.5 miles (trotted 2nd half as she was gassed) today 1.5 at 12 to 16mph. 5. This morning she screamed and yelled and pulled on her leash to get to the atv when she saw it come out. 6. She was happy to visit Atlas and Sako thru the fence, no longer slinking away or charging. ***still haven't re-tried petting or harnessing*** So yea...she's not high maintenance at all. She needs someone who is willing to give meds and likes to drive an atv and likes to co exist but not be co dependent 😂🤦‍♀️🫣🐾🤷‍♀️ *thanks Maddie for riding along this morning so we could get video as I don't have 3 hands.

Foster beast has found her appetite now with consistent exercise and meal training. She was evidently still a bit hungry after dinner last night, and yes she did get a half cup more for asking mostly nicely 🐾🐺🐺
