📌FACT:
🍽When it comes to mealtime, our beloved bracyphalectic breeds get the short end of the stick, literally.

🐕Bracyphalectic breeds (also known as flat-faced dogs) are identified by the American Kennel Club as “breeds of dogs that can be identified by their shortened snouts or faces that appear flat and, as a result, have narrow nostrils and smaller airways.”

⚠️Because of these physical attributes, these breeds often struggle with digestive issues like gas, gurgling tummies, regurgitation, and bloating.

❌What’s more, if the dog is eating out of a bowl with high-level sides it can actually increase the pace, air intake, and amount of food eaten.

📝Science shows that dogs will use their lower jaw as a shovel to push the food against the ‘collecting wall’ (i.e., sides) of the bowl, which forces large amounts of food & air into their body quickly—sort of a conveyer belt operation. Bowls also have a tendency to help pile the food and promote gulping.

✋As a consequence, the dog is not in a proper eating position since they are ‘eating into the bowl‘ instead of ‘eating over’ it, which leads to digestive issues.
