A year ago I had the crazy idea to try farming while working a full time job. It’s taken me a year to get this far and it has not been easy. I’ve learned many important and searing lessons along the way. It’s hard to know if you’re ever doing it right but with some diligent work, luck, and a massive amount of patience, land can go from overgrown to overflowing. I hope to keep my hands down and dirty as long as I can and I hope the same for all of you too.

As the days start getting hotter, shade cloth for crops susceptible to bolting becomes necessity. Next time I’ll make my beds farther apart so I’m not doing the harvest shuffle to get between rows.

Using a handmade jig out of nails and plywood to bend hoops for low tunnels. Not the prettiest setup but worked well enough!
