We were lucky to be the recipients of a grant to improve the cat enclosures and we are trying to stretch every last cent! If you have left over building materials that you could donate we would happily take them. We need timber, tiles, netting, nails, screws, latches, hinges and anything else that might be useful. These six kittens were found earlier this week with a very sick and weak mother. We rushed her to the vet where she remains and is being treated with blood transfusions among other things. We really hope we can save her life.
Five of the kittens are thriving. The runt of the litter is definitely not as bright and sparky as his siblings. These six are part of the 30 or so kittens we have right now at the shelter.

We have a big problem. It’s a very cute problem, but a big one nonetheless. We have over 30 kittens with more arriving each day including this little guy who was found on a roundabout covered in fleas today. Vet student Caro got to work after he was treated to comb the fleas out, you can see the black specs on the countertop.

A big welcome to Sophia who joins us from Germany through the Erasmus program. We are thrilled to have you with us!
We are lucky to have connections to both the Royal Veterinary College in the UK and European Erasmus program that we have vet students and newly qualified practitioners come and stay to gain valuable experience working with us. With 200 cats and more than 10 years experience there is very little in terms of cat ailments, disease and behaviour we haven’t seen. If you are one of our international supporters and you will be visiting the Algarve come see us! We love showing visitors around the shelter. We are not meeting our membership target and we need your help. Members are an important part of our fundraising and the annual fee of €24 helps us keep the shelter running. The money goes towards vet bills, food, litter, rent and all the costs that go with staying open. We are 100% volunteer run so everything we raise goes to our cats. Passing on the baton
Dear friends of CCCA,
When I took over the position as treasurer in 2018 the financial situation was a disaster. The debts of the association piled up to 35.000 €, and the daily expenses were higher then the income from donations, subside etc. And, CCCA was a one-man-show, with no „Plan B“ in case something would happen to Corinna.
We changed a lot in these 6 years, it was a hard work, and sometimes even 24 hours were not enough. But the result proves, that we took the right way. Today CCCA is financially stable, our debts have gone down to only 6.000 €. And with the help of new, very engaged members in our board and at our volunteers, there is a „Plan B“, that allows even some smaller holidays for Corinna.
This new situation gives me the chance, to pass on the baton as treasurer to Eileen Reuschenbach. I wish her good luck, and that she has the energy to say „NO“ to all projects, that bring the financial stability in danger.

Monkey went to his forever home on Saturday. I miss the little guy but he has gone to a friend of mine and her lovely family so I still get to see him for cuddles. 🥰
I got him when he was 2 or 3 days old weighing a tiny 109g. Those first few days I dreaded looking in his box as I really thought he might not make it, but he thrived. He needed me, but it was a time in my life when I needed him too.
I’m so happy for him and the Harrison family who have been coming to visit and play with him since he was three weeks old. You are a perfect match and I wish you many wonderful years together. ❤️😻🐈‍⬛
