Did you know we work with the national animal blood bank? We have around 60 cats that donate blood once every six months and they save lives! We get an email telling us if a particular cat’s blood has saved a life and we love receiving them! The cats, all ages between 1-8 years old, are checked by a vet to ensure they are fit and strong and their blood tested and if all ok we go ahead with the donation.

We’re appealing for help to pay an emergency vet bill. Last night we trapped a feral cat with a 6cm pr*****ed a**s, probably caused by untreated diarrhoea. The poor girl would have been in so much pain and it just looked awful so I’m not going to show the picture. We got her emergency surgery this morning and she will stay in our care centre for the next five days so we can medicate her and give pain relief until the stitches can come out. The vet bill and medication comes to just under €150.
If you can donate a little or a lot for Collie as we call her, we would appreciate it! Thank you to Shannagh who was here on vacation and reported Collie to us.

We have been busy renovating. We were lucky to receive a grant to make some improvements to the enclosures which was just in time as some of the netting was getting very weak. This house has been refreshed and is ready for its new inhabitants who will move in shortly. Enjoy the tour!

Bye Emma! We will all miss you!
Emma has been staying at the Quinta for the past few months helping out with every aspect of the shelter and all with a big smile. Her biggest accomplishment was raising baby Luke. Those two hourly feeds are tough but he is a thriving and gorgeous baby boy. Safe travels back to Germany and we look forward to seeing you soon.

This is Tiger and he has lived on the streets of Benagil for 17 years. This old boy developed some mouth issues which caused him to stop eating and require medication. We of course took him in when we were alerted to his plight by the kind residents who have looked after him for years. He is doing so much better and is no longer in pain when he eats. This lovely kitty will stay with us where he will be fed a soft diet and have a warm shelter to sleep in. He has had a long life on the streets but he deserves a good retirement.

A massive thank you to everyone who supported our first Quiz Night at Victoria's in Poço Baretto last night.

What a fun filled evening we all had and thanks to your generosity, and that of Victoria's, you managed to raise an amazing €335.03 for our feline residents as well as our 3 dogs, 3 horses and 1 chicken.

A huge thank you to Anna, Paul and Zoe who made the evening flow - Anna for being the perfect hostess and Zoe for being the patient sub quiz master - Poppy being the supremo!

We very much hope you will continue to support us at future quiz evenings there and just a quick reminder that we are holding our Charity Dinner there on November 30th at 19.00. For more information please see our event posting or contact Elaine Archer.

If you have litter, toys, blankets, cushions, towels, cat food that you can’t use, we can always use it at the shelter.

We at CCCA are excited to be invited to hold a Quiz Night tomorrow night (14th November) at Victoria's in Poço Barreto.

It will be a fun filled evening with their usual food menu available, together with a Special of the Day, €1.00 of which will come directly back to the charity.

Prize for the team with the most points will be a complimentary breakfast, donated by Victoria's.

Entrance fee to take part in the quiz is €2.00 per player, with 4 players to a team.
