**update***
Thea is now 7 months old and just over 60lbs! She is going to be a very big girl!
We finally got her DNA results back! 88% Shepherd, 6% Husky!
Thea is smart, stubborn, brave, protective and a typical teenager!
She is VERY trainable and eager to please....for a treat! She is also being clicker trained and is taking to it very well. She would thrive in a stimulating environment with someone willing to challenge her mind and meet her energy levels. This girl needs a job! Like many highly intelligent dogs - idle hands are the devils workshop. ššš.
She would love to have another large, high energy sibling to play with. She will test the patience of this dog though! She has 3 siblings currently who she exasperates daily! Lol.
Experience with training high energy working dogs (shepherd, malinois, husky), would be an ideal home! She needs a confident handler/partner. She will push boundaries and walk all over you if you let her!
A home with no young children is preferred, as she has no body awareness and knock small things over. She currently lives with a 13yr old, assertive, dog savy human.
Thea does live with a very dog savy cat, and a new kitten, but needs to be supervised as she does have a stong prey drive. Her recall is pretty good, she doesn't 'gate dash'.
Thea goes in her crate at meal time, and knows to 'wait' to eat.
Like most puppies, she is not to be trusted free roaming without supervision. She is crated when we're not home, and gated in the 'dog room' at night. She WILL jump over any gate/fence when left alone!
She is learning leash manners in a no-pull harness as any collar we've tried she chokes herself. š¤¦āāļø. The no-pull harness is far from ideal, and is being used as a last resort. Long-term use of no-pull harnesses as well as 'haltis' can cause lasting damage to muscles/joints etc because of the restricted movement in the harness, and the way the halti moves their neck into an abnormal position.
I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have!
