It is so rare when I have only one guest at the inn. I very much treasure the full day of one-on-one hang sessions. Fuzz says he could get used to this.

Taya is reminding everyone Moon Doggies is closed for family vacation Aug 9-15. We will reopen on the 16th.

Speaking of family, Taya's story of how she became part of the Moon Doggies family is one of my favorites. In the fall of 2022, I received a call from a local couple who had found a female Husky nearby. They asked if I had a chip reader and I routed them to the local vet. (Side note: I now have a chip reader if you find a lost dog). In the meantime, I connected with my network of pet caregivers to spread the word about the Husky. Jackie, former owner of Moon Doggies, had seen a post made by Taya's dad. I reached out to him, introduced myself as Kelli at Moon Doggies and gave him the information I had. Over the following 24 hours, we were able to reunite Taya with her family. Her dad's last question before we signed off was, "By the way, what is Moon Doggies?"

Taya and her siblings have been staying and playing with us ever since.

When every day starts to feel like this, it's time for a vacation!

Dave wants to let everyone know Moon Doggies will be CLOSED for family vacation August 9-15. We will reopen on Friday, August 16.

If you need pet boarding during this time, we're happy to recommend others in the area. We appreciate all of you!

STAY: to live in a place as a guest for a short period of time

At Moon Doggies, your pet will experience a true "home away from home" STAY. Our pet cabins are cozy and all unique to fit your pet's needs. A spacious suite is a favorite among our families of dogs.

We spend as much time as possible interacting with your pets through play, walks and snuggles. They even take turns helping us out while we do daily chores. We believe in creating a safe, calm environment where they can begin to trust us. Repeat guests are happy to see us at check-in!

We accommodate all dietary needs, including food that needs refrigeration or warming, specific feeding times, and supplements and medications. We encourage bringing blankets or bedding that smells like home, and we offer cots as well. Soft music and podcasts are played throughout the day, and occasionally our children tell bedtime stories.

While we do use cleaning supplies designed specifically for boarding facilities for the safety and health of your pets, we also recognize that natural solutions work best for some cleaning jobs and we are proud to support our business neighbor, Amy's Green Cleaning, to lessen chemical exposure as much as possible.

Exercise and enrichment are a big part of our day. On leash walks, scent tracking and wildlife watching are the highlights. Stopping to chat with neighbors is also great fun. Socializing with other guests in the play yard is an option that can be discussed during check-in (stay tuned for PLAY post).

It is our responsibility and pleasure to recognize that every pet's needs are different, and it is our goal to give your pet all the love and care you could ask for while they're away from you.

My Octoberfest boys! Cooper, Leo and Tiger came to party with me every weekend of the festival, and I think we all still love each other! Lots of fun was had and I sure will miss their shenanigans. Until next time fellas!

We have been celebrating our One Year Anniversary of Moon Doggies all week long. We appreciate all of you who have been on this journey with us and for letting us be a part of your family. We value your continued business and your trust in us!

Some lessons learned along the way...all pets shall remain nameless because we love you no matter what!

Sometimes you have to build a custom kennel.

Sometimes you are the fire hydrant.

Sometimes you nap with the dogs.

Sometimes you eat dinner with the dogs.

Sometimes the dogs lock you out of the building. I wish I was joking!

Sometimes you grieve longer and harder over a beloved fur friend than you thought possible.

Sometimes you stay overnight with a dog who needs you.

Sometimes you inherit dogs.

Sometimes...well, just sometimes. 😁

All the times are filled with love, and most of the time great fun. We look forward to sharing some exciting updates in the coming months!

Today I have a special post about a very special girl. Our Valentine, Scout.

We have loved Scout from the moment we met her. From her puppy eyes to her playfulness, she has brought us so much joy while she's been with us here at Moon Doggies.

Scout is an 8 year old Lab mix (Black Lab and Chesapeake Bay Retriever) who plays so well with children and most other dogs. She will make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a forever Valentine who is smart and gentle and a precious companion.

How is it February?! We have had some great fun this year already. My heart grows fuller every day with all of these friends, new and returning. Here are some announcements and photo catch-up!

🐾 A friendly reminder that White, Habersham, and Hall County school districts all share Spring Break the week of April 3-7. If you are in planning mode for a getaway, now is the time to start thinking about reservations for your pets. Our spots will fill up fast!

Spotlight on Willa Bay, who puts the OG in Moon Doggies - she's our original moon dog. She is the reason we are here!

We boarded Willa with Jackie last summer, after her scatterbrained mom (read: Kelli) forgot to make her a reservation at the vet like usual. Jackie had space and Willa had a great stay. Nathan really loved the space and saw so much potential. When Jackie told us she was hoping to retire soon, our wheels started turning and as they say, the rest is history.

Willa is a mess of a girl. She is into back scratches, running in circles, wild game, and any dog or human who looks at her, or doesn't. She loves coming to Moon Doggies when we have a solo boarder. She is wonderful company!

New Year, New Policy coming! And a quick announcement first: We will not offer any day boarding from December 30th through January 6. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Effective January 1, 2023 we will designate select hours during the day for drop-offs and pick-ups, with the intention of improving the rhythm of our day and allowing us to block our schedules better.

Appointments are required for the following time frames:

🐾 8:30am - 10:00am

🐾 12:00pm-1:30pm

🐾 Late afternoon/evening window will vary depending on our extracurricular schedules. The available window will be communicated at the time of reservation.

🐾 Nighttime appointments are available if earlier windows are not viable.

We understand that things come up and we can accommodate certain circumstances the best we can. If the original scheduled window is missed by more than 30 minutes, we will request that you reschedule for the next designated window of time.

We appreciate all of you and your help and understanding as we implement this new policy!
