A little history on SANBO. In October 2014, we had our first pet spayed (Tigger, our mascot). She previously had several litters and the owner could not afford to have her fixed. This one act of service led to us creating an outreach program where we would raise money to cover the cost of spay or neuter for at risk pets on the Bolivar Peniunsula.
Over the years, we worked with several vets including Dowlen Road Veterinary Clinic in Beaumont, SNAP mobile vet, Kelly Kays and Winnie Vet Clinic and served almost 100 beloved pets. Although we organized both a mobile vet clinic as well as a mash style clinic where we had several pets spayed or neutered in one day, most of the time we were setting up appointments with vets through SANBO for pet owners to bring their pet in to a clinic in Beaumont or Winnie.
In late 2019, we received a letter from Winnie Vet that they were no longer able to offer a discount to SANBO on a case by case basis and were concentrating on assisting rescue organizations with multiple animals scheduled in a day. Because mass transport of pets from the peninsula could not be provided, SANBO was no longer able to serve the community.
This was a true labor of love and we were proud of what we accommoplished between 2014-2019. Today we received a request from a former "client" who has a mama and two pups that need to be fixed and we do not know any vets that might be willing to work with us on a case by case basis and offer a discount. As before, we would set up the appointments and pay for the cost of spay and neuter only (no meds or shots if required) but the owner would be responsible for bringing in their pet and paying for additional costs.
If you know of a vet between the beach and Beaumont (not Galveston please because of ferry) that might be interested in working with us and offer discounted spay & neuter services, please send us a private message.
Thank you for your consideration.
