Equine Sports Massage Therapy is the therapeutic application of massage techniques for the purpose of increasing circulation, relaxing muscle spasms, relieving tension, enhancing muscle tone, and increasing range of motion in the high performance horse.
No surgery! Thank the heavens✨🙏🏼 Ankle is stabilized the bone has not displaced. Ortho doc says 6-8 weeks recovery time. A perk of being an Equine Sports Therapist is that I have some pretty amazing therapy equipment that will help accelerate healing✨🙏🏼 Can’t wait to be back on my feet and doing life again, I know Cami and Todd can’t wait either🤣
So this is my one week update1️⃣ I am so bored🔴 I don’t like asking for help BUT I have the best help💕 Crutches are a killer 🔴 Its is humbling crawling around😂 Excited for possibly getting a scooter🤞🏼 Life can take a detour so fast‼️ I’m trying to find something positive in all this🙏🏼✨ I need ideas of binge worthy shows to watch on NetFlix or Prime📺 Im setting records for time spent holding down the couch🤣 Week 2 update should be more interesting, I will be more delirious as the weeks go by🤪 THANK YOU to everyone who has reached out checking on me and for your prayers🤍✨
Life threw a lemon at me this week🍋😑. As much as I have hated to have to make this post….on Wednesday I had an accident and broke my ankle pretty bad. And no, there is no cool story of how it happened. Literally was just dumping a wheelbarrow of horse💩🤦🏼♀️. So there is a little more to the story….we have a short ramp up to our manure pile and coming down I slipped and well, you know the outcome♿️ So with all this said, Angela Harrison, Equine Sports Therapy will be temporarily out of commission😩. Doctors have instructed me this injury will take about 8 weeks to heal and that’s if I don’t have to end up having a surgery to fix it to ensure I heal with a good ankle. In 2 weeks my orthopedic doctor will do more X-rays to see if it’s properly healing on its own. Please keep me in your prayers for healing also Todd and Cami they are 100% having to take care of my EVERY need. 🫶🏻🙏🏼

So, 2024 will be the year of….write things down, follow thru, check them off, and do so in a timely manner! 2024 will also be filled with a lot of preparation to get myself back in the saddle…here’s hoping for my own barrel racing come back story! Feet are the first thing I evaluate during a therapy session. So many body soreness issues start right in the feet! I see deep heel bulb cracks all too often and they always harbor deep thrush and with that comes heel pain. Pay close attention to your horses heel bulbs for thrush.

It’s come time for me to open up and be transparent about what’s going on with me for those that don’t already know. I have kept pretty quiet about it because I wanted my life and work to stay as normal as possible. I needed to be able to deal with myself and not be confronted with it unless I wanted to talk about it. I can be a pretty emotional person so I wanted happiness and normalcy when I seen you all, not tears and fear. I wanted an escape from my health issues so not talking about it has been that escape. But it’s time that I be transparent about what is going on. As some of you know 5 years ago I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent 2 surgeries to get the cancer out and was in remission for almost 5 years. Unfortunately 3 days before Christmas I got the news the cancer has returned. It’s been hell on my nerves and emotions but I have the best support system that helps keep me lifted. On March 8th I will undergo another surgery in Jacksonville, FL @ Mayo. I was blessed to be referred to one of the best thyroid cancer surgeons on the east coast, so for that I’m very hopeful🙏🏼 Because of where the cancer returned in my neck, the surgery could have a complication but we won’t know until I come out of surgery and they wake me up. The cancer came back embedded around the nerve that controls my vocal cords. So my prayer is that they can get the cancer out without damaging that nerve and I wake up cancer free and can talk! Prayer is so powerful and I’m asking to please keep me in your prayers in the days and weeks to come. Thank you to my awesome support system for helping to keep my spirits lifted, I love you all endlessly you know who you are❤️ To my clients, I’m hoping this won’t keep me down too long. I look forward to putting this all behind me and getting back to helping your horses feel amazing and game ready. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and prayers are very appreciated. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

We had such a super day at the $1500 added Gene Nichols Memorial Race in Auburn, NY. Cami & Maddy (Gotta French Madame) brought their A game⭐️ 1D 2nd in the Open & won the entire 1D in the Youth. This team was on fire yesterday🔥 To top it all off, my beautiful friend Ondrea Pistello who is also a wickedly talented photographer surprised Cami & I with some beautiful canvasses of us in action! I’m still speechless my friend, such a lovely gift...thank you from my heart 😍❤️ It was a beautiful day to race in the memory of Gene Nichols. Cami & Gotta French Madame are the 2021 NY Youth 2D Reserve State Champs⭐️ Fastest run they have had in this arena so far, it’s been a struggle for them to nail this arena but they are surely making strides in the right direction! “Maddy” truly has a heart of a champion, this amazing horse gives 110% of her heart every.single.run no matter what and we are so blessed for Cami to have the opportunity to ride her💜.
