UPDATE - FOUND SAFE AND WELL - I’m thrilled to tell you that a have just had a call from the owners to tell me that Misty came of the bushes near the railway line to them tonight and they were able to pick her up. ‘ what a brave little girl’, it’s wonderful to have this news, which could have been ended so differently 💕
Thank you to Mandy who has been checking the trap today- and of course to you all for your kindness with sharing the post, you are incredible, and I am so lucky to have your amazing support

MALTON - URGENT HELP
We have just had a call from a very distressed lady on Commercial Street at the junction with Welham Road (next to the railway crossing). A car was been cleaned in the car wash and a member of staff opened their car. A 5 month old Maine C**n struggled free from her harness and has run away terrified.
I will put the picture of her on as soon as we receive this. PLEASE, PLEASE anyone who lives round round this area finding this frightened kitten who is microchipped call us straight away. Please do not chase her onto the crossing/ road
Thank you. Please share the post onto any Malton groups

Attention cat-lovers... Filey Cat Rescue needs YOU! 🫵

It's been a tough year, but as we begin to look ahead towards 2025, it's clear we're in need of one thing: people power. Our trustees and volunteers are one big family, and now, we're on the lookout for some eager new recruits to join us on our mission.

There are lots of fantastic ways you can get involved with the work we do, both at Little Heroes Sanctuary and beyond, including:

1. Admin

Our old office room has been out-of-action for a few months now, and we've been struggling to keep up with the growing number of incoming enquiries. If you have any experience in administration, data entry, bookkeeping, and/or online customer service, and would like to offer your support, we'd really love to hear from you.

2. Fundraising

We work round-the-clock to care for over 300 rescuees at Little Heroes Sanctuary, which doesn't leave much time for us to focus on fundraising, and we know that we're missing out on lots of opportunities. So, we're hoping to put together a committee to help organise events, reach out to potential donors, and spread the word about who we are and what we do.

3. Little Heroes Sanctuary

Take a hands-on approach and join the Sanctuary team; feeding, grooming, socialising, and cleaning up after our incredible cats and kittens. We're very lucky to have such a dedicated group of volunteers working at the Sanctuary, but there's always room for more helping hands, especially on Thursdays and weekends.

4. The Empawrium

Our first charity shop, located on Filey's Mitford Street, has already become a bustling community hub for the town's feline fanatics, and we're so excited to be growing our team of shop assistants; in charge of sorting incoming donations, serving customers, and representing Filey Cat Rescue in our hometown.

5. ...and much more!

Have a special skill you'd like to share with us? Or an area of expertise you think might aid our mission? Perhaps you'd like to become part of our Transport Team? Or offer your creative services? Whatever your skillset, we'd love to hear all about it.

For more information on any of the above roles or to register your interest in joining our crew, please email [email protected] with your full name and contact details.

As always, thank you so much for your support – all your likes, comments, and shares – it means the world to us. Have a meow-tiful week! 🧡

A BOX OF KITTENS- sadly this evening a passer by, on the front road of the Sanctuary, brought to our attention cardboard box which had been left here, it was soaked with all the rain, and hidden inside were 4 very frightened little tabby kittens💕💕
It really saddens me to think someone would just leave them here at the front of the property near the road and not tell us.
Thank you to the member of the public who saw the box and the movement within the box, or it may have become dark and they would have been in a lot of danger. They are tucked up for the night inside, in the warmth and extremely hungry but not hurt. They are about 8 weeks old and will be checked in the next couple of days at the vet’s. Please I ask that people do not do this, and ring us or another rescue for help
St least they are safe❤️❤️❤️❤️

BABY MATTY - this is the little boy I told you about in my previous post. He came in during the early hours of Thursday morning, we raced him to the vets for blood tests, and he was given emergency medication. However it was clear from his symptoms that it was neurological, he is mostly blind and is sleeping most if the time, during the first couple of days we had to help him wee and poo, and force feed him. However yesterday and today he has managed to to go to the toilet himself and attempt to to eat. He is doing small circles when walking. We are hoping that time is a great healer💕 He sleeps most of the time, so we are hoping this is helping him repair himself naturally, he is on medication to help possible internal swelling/pain❤️
He is absolutely beautiful, so sweet. I would love for you to help me find a really sweet name for him. At the moment he sleeps with me, he doesn’t move at all, I hope so much we can get him through this.
Thank you everyone for your support to allow us to help them all. Tina 💕💕💕💕

AMAZING AND KIND - This week has been so difficult for us all, to loose our babies is the worst thing that happens 💕💕 Thank you for your kind words for ‘nuts
We are facing some incredibly stressful times at the moment, with so many needing help, in the last week 14 cats and kittens have come into the sanctuary, last night a beautiful little kitten came in very poorly, he spent hours at the vets today and has been incredibly brave at just eight weeks old, he is receiving urgent care here with us tonight. The kittens mum and other siblings coming in tomorrow. A further 6 kittens are desperately needing to come in. Several cats also need to come in who are ill. We have several cats that are receiving urgent care here from last week.PLEASE bare with us💕 we are a small team. I will be intouch with all new homes as we need to find loving homes for our babies, to make room to help others.
I’m not going to post pictures, of I’ll cats as it is too upsetting , I will keep you all posted each day❤️❤️
THANK YOU- to the kind person who cut around our sign and didn’t even tell us, whoever did this a huge thank you ❤️
To the people who gave us cat trees and scratches, the lady who made the fleece covers for our heat pads’I can tell you the poorly kitten is using these now’💕.
The lady who made miniature beds for the tiny kittens, your amazing💕💕
A couple today brought huge bags of biscuits💕💕 our costs are huge here thank you to everyone who is helping us, we need you so very much❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, we love you all

It’s been a sad day here at Filey Cat Rescue, Nuts joined us in April this year and we all fell in love with him. He relocated to a fosterer in August where he has received lots of love over the last couple of months.
Sadly yesterday evening we received a call from Scarborough police to let us know Nuts had passed away following a road traffic collision. We are all devastated as he was such a wonderful character and brought so much joy to ourselves, all the volunteers at the rescue and his fosterer.
We want to thank the team at Scarborough police for handing the situation so kindly and for returning our lovely boy to us here at the rescue to lay to rest in the sanctuary and to the two young men who witnessed the accident, called the police and stayed with our special boy.
Nuts you will be forever in our hearts 😔🐱❤️
Love Tina, Mark and the team

Sadly due to the change in forecast and the horrible weather today we’ve made the decision to move our open day to tomorrow 11am-4pm. If you were travelling from far to come to us today you’re still very welcome to come just wear waterproofs!
Sadly we don’t have many dry areas so show people cats here currently so we just can’t cope with the usual number of people we see on our open days in this weather today!
Please come and join us tomorrow if you can! The sun is supposed to be out so I’m sure our lovely babies will be too!🐱

THE VILLAGE - at Filey Cat Rescue, this extended area of the Sanctuary was put up and added to, in order to help a lot of very vulnerable cats and kittens, especially those from the more outdoors type of places, such as our Moors Rescue, and the Catterick cats. The video is a tour to introduce you to some of the residents, I’m sorry it is a long video, but thought you might like to see the beautiful cats, who just want a chance to have a safe and living home, where they might find love for the first time. Thank you for your continued support, because of you,we can help so many cats in need.💕❤️💕

THANK YOU - our drop in Saturday was brilliant 💕 we had 3 families join us, the men brought their own tools and got busy putting up shelters and cat trees, which was a massive help, and the children and ladies help feed the cats, it was wonderful and very special for them to give up their time to help us, but very much appreciated ❤️. It made the very busy day so much easier and gave me the ochance to talk to many people who came to see the cats. As a result Wilber, Papillon, Ella, Rupert, Nova and 4 kittens met their new families and are in the process of leaving, which is truly brilliant.
If you’re thinking of adopting, fostering or volunteering please get intouch and help to change the lives of many cats who are desperate for help.
Thank you so much to you all💕💕💕

QUICK UPDATE - The four kittens brought in with flea anemia are doing very well and on the road to recovery 💕💕

The tabby kitten found in a car engine in Hunmanby is responding well to treatment and now gaining weight ❤️

Ginger and white cat found in Filey is still on eye treatment, we are a little worried about his eye and further tests are booked over the next few days, his back is beginning to heal.

We also took in a black and white femake from a home where they could not look after her anymore. We have called her Martha - she has spent the last 8 days going to the vets each day to spend the day on fluids by IV to flush out toxins from her system. We hope that she will start to improve shortly.

We are in the process of of helping 9 other cats who are in a desperate situation and I will post about them all shortly.
Thank you so much again for your support in all we do, it is very much appreciated
