I have spent god knows how much money on toys and other accessories for my FID’s, only to have them chew them to pieces or destroy them... Of course I realize that this is what they are meant for, but I would kinda like a $100 toy to last a little longer than 5 minutes... as with perches. So I have decided to combine my knowledge and skill to create some accessories, but of high quality, as EVERTHING seems to be imported crap (even the good stuff). As with everything of high quality, it will generally have a price tag to reflect it’s quality. At first, I was trying to source the absolute cheapest of everything – then it dawned on me, if most people are like me (FID owner’s anyway), they will have NO issues with paying a few extra $ for quality and something that will last. I am a boatbuilder by trade... so working in the marine industry, I have seen the value in stainless steel. Not only is it incredibly easy to clean – making it extremely hygienic, it is also very strong, along with it’s corrosion resistance. And it polishes up VERY nicely. And the added advantage is that this is the most common material I work with, so I’m quite familiar with it’s characteristics. I also have a pretty awesome workshop available to me, including (among MANY other things), a metal lathe (fitted with CNC), a metal mill and an AC/DC TIG welder. An electro-polisher is also a great asset. All in all, I see stainless steel as a perfect material – only ‘CON’ being it’s cost. There are several products I will be offering immediately, but with the view of adding to my catalogue with things like stainless steel cages and stainless steel swivel feeders. Apart from what I will be offering as a ‘staple’, I am more than happy to make ANYTHING on spec., just give me a design and I’ll be able to make it. I am a boatbuilder, I CAN DO ANYTHING!!!
