Y2K9s Y2K9s Dog Sports and Training Club is one of Delaware Valley's premier dog training organizations.

Y2K9s offers a full slate of classes in a variety of areas for all ages and levels of experience (both handlers and dogs!), including Manners, Tricks, Freestyle, Companion and Competition Obedience, Conformation, Control Unleashed, Agility, Disc, Nose Work, Rally, and Parkour. All of Debbie Lazaro-Sweeney’s agility classes are cancelled today 1/6:

“I am canceling all of my agility classes today, January 6.

Although the snowfall near the club is not supposed to be significant, there will still be slippery conditions on the road. Plus, I am concerned about getting home, since I live in southern New Jersey and we are supposed to get slammed with this storm.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Be safe and stay warm!”

We’re so happy to have been able to offer a training space for a local group of 4-H young handlers! Thank you to club member Heather Eckenrode for supporting our young people in the future of dog sports!

“Some of you may have met a few members from the Speedy Paws 4-H Dog Agility Club when they were at trials at y2 earlier this year raising money to get better flooring in the concrete pavillion we are training in every week (currently working on handling and fundamentals there only because of safety). Last weekend some of the club were available to run for their first time on turf. One of our members is also now taking classes at Y2. 🤩Thanks, Lynsey Heffner and Y2 for supporting these juniors and allowing the club to rent ring time. (If anyone else is interested in supporting them, I’m driving around with a huge bag of items in my car that the club and their parents have made like crate pads, snuffle balls, dog bone shaped Xmas stockings, dog bone shaped cleaning towels, etc.if we cross paths and you are interested, just ask! )”

Registration for our next class session opens tomorrow for students returning to the same class or those joining an introductory class like Basic Canine Manners! Don’t forget to renew your membership BEFORE registering for class in order to pay the member price for the January - February classes.

Congratulations to our club members Rachael Breder and Lynsey Heffner for being named as alternates to the WAO Team USA for 2025 with their dogs Chesapeake and Vision

This is Rachael’s first World team with Chessy and Lynsey and Vision’s third! They are both grateful to our Y2K9s instructors Rosie, Katie, and Celine for their support in reaching their international goals.

For those of you who have had at least a little parkour.... the next Advanced workshop is next Sunday, the 15th with sections at 12:00 and 2:15. We will focus in on Unders and 2 Front Feet On. This will include working on crawling, low under, long under, up and down under, and I'm still thinking up some other variations. For 2 feet on we will work on different heights, textures, movement, duration and sending from a distance. Your dog does not have to be fluent at either of these behaviors, just previously introduced. You don't have to be currently enrolled in a class.

Have you ever wanted a super sleek, high definition video of your dog doing agility? Have you ever seen a slow-motion video that really captures the athleticism and dexterity of our amazing dogs? Y2K9s is hosting an opportunity to have your very own high quality agility video on Saturday, June 15, shot and edited by Zak Winokur (www.zakwinokur.com). This video shows a sample of what Zak will capture and create for you as part of your purchase. This package will include: - 15 minutes of ring time on the turf with Zak to run a course or capture any training you want to include in your video - An approximately 90 second video. The video package includes a horizontal video which will be delivered in 4k, and a vertical video will be optimised for social media. - Zak will send a follow up email after the shoot with a few music options for the video. Appointments will be scheduled between 10am-12pm on Saturday, June 15. (Option to add more appointments after 12pm if there is a lot of interest). Appointments will be for a 15 minute time period with a 5 minute buffer between each, so please come early. There is no expectation to work your dog for 15 minutes straight, of course! You will have time to give your dog breaks and speak with Zak about what shots you're interested in! There will be no refunds for this purchase, but you may sell your time to another person and email [email protected] to let Lynsey know. Although the shoot will take place on the turf with an agility course set, we're open to folks who don't do agility, but want a video of any other training or skill.
