Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
At American Dachshunds, we believe health should come before breeding. Therefore, all breeding pairs are genetically tested for disease, veterinarian examined, and OFA certified prior to breeding. We are insatiable students of canine biology, genetics, nutrition, and, as you would expect, proper dachshund body structure. When perfection is the goal, every detail becomes an obsession. This does not mean that every puppy whelped is perfect. It means that when you look for the perfect puppy or older dog, you will make an informed choice. Discussion and transparency lie at the crux of full disclosure. Your dogs’ strengths and weaknesses are observed with critical eyes and experienced judgment. Good temperament is mandatory, but remember, the breed was bred to hunt. To that end, our dogs as well as their puppies are encouraged to hunt. From day three training begins using Early Neurological Stimulation, tempered with care associated with whelping difficulties which can overstimulate in certain cases. From there, focus is on nose and ground skills (many retrieve.) These early techniques make training come more readily and naturally to puppies. They will look to you for command. Words, hand signals, and frequent interaction produces a dog which becomes quite malleable so as to fit in almost any situation.
Our locations are in the mid-west (Northern Indiana) and in North Texas (DFW Metroplex.) This allows us to ship puppies to major airports across North America. We are also well-versed in international logistics, USDA export requirements, and international import regulations.
Relationships with veterinarians are varied and many. We understand that certain vets specialize in certain disciplines and therefore, we choose to consult with each on a case-by-case basis. Our vets respect us and what we do so much, they not only recommend us to their clients, but also purchase our puppies for their personal pets.
Please feel free to ask any question that may be of interest to you that we have not covered here. We are at your disposal. Thank you for visiting American Dachshunds.
