Hi Sugar Buzz Friends! Rigley had surgery yesterday to remove the damaged portion of her tail (a bit less than half) and I’m so happy that she is doing much better and has begun to eat again! I’m thankful to everyone for sending their positive thoughts and prayers for Rigley❤️Even with the partial amputation she is still able to bend her remaining tail and use it for balance (very important for a Glider☺️).
I feel so blessed that my little Rigley will be back to her spunky, extra- fluffy self in no time!

My Sugar Buzz Friends, please send healing thoughts and vibes to my little Rigley. Saturday morning I found her with half of her tail stripped to the bone.
It appears that her tail went thru the bars at the bottom-side of her cage and the gliders in the cage beneath were able to grab the tip of her tail, pull it into their cage and strip the fur off 😢 I treated her as soon as I saw it with a sterile saline rinse followed by a veteracin rinse and then Triple antibiotic ointment. She wouldn’t leave a straw on her tail (the recommended emergency at home treatment to cover injured tails) so I just covered it with a sterile wrap and called the Vet. It was Sat morning so no Vet until Monday. I didn’t feel at that time that an ER trip was nessesary as she was no longer bleeding and she was leaving the wrap on (I should have taken her!😢) Today I noticed that her tail seemed to be twisting with the wrap somehow and I immediately took it off. Within minutes of removing it she began to self mutilate and bleed. The Exotic Vets at my clinic, a clinic that I have trusted with my gliders for many years, were not in today, so we saw a newer vet who clearly knew nothing about sugar gliders.
I told her that I felt that the color of Rigleys hands, feet and nose (usually healthy pink) were looking greyish and appeared to me to look a bit hypoxic. The vet took a quick look at her mouth and said she was fine 😳 She didn’t bandage the wound or even CLEAN it! I told her that if her tail is left uncovered Rigley WILL continue to self mutilate and bleed! I guess that didn’t matter to the vet😤 I was further told that the soonest she could have surgery to amputate her tail is Wednesday! Poor Rigs is in so much pain that she’s not eating😭 For her pain they gave us so little pain medicine that the bottle literally looked empty! We were lucky to be able to get out one tiny dose. Now I’m in the process of trying to make an e-collar for her that fits (she’s extra fluffy!☺️). I’m hoping that it will keep her from hurting herself more before Wednesday. I’m very disappointed in my vet Clinic right now. If anyone has a good exotic, Sugar Glider knowledgeable Vet in the suburbs of Chicago (Tinley Park, Orland etc.) please let me know.
My poor baby girl 😭. For little Rigley, Wednesday can’t come soon enough! 🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️

She’s finally here!!!🤩 Suki’s Joey is Oop and she’s a chunky little girl! I expected her to be tiny, but she was 15.4 grams on her first weigh in!! Heaviest newly oop Joey that Sugar Buzz has ever had! She’s just adorable!! Because she was oop on what would have been my Dads 83rd Birthday, I have decided to name her ANGEL 😇
Too soon to tell what color she will turn out to be. Waiting for those little peepers to open👀 💜💜

Suki, my beautiful Platinum from Fellow Breeder Nala Lioness, has a Joey almost Oop!! I’m so excited! Dad is a Cremeino, a descendent from my very own pair, Loli and CremePuff! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that it’s a little Ruby Plat.!! Can’t wait to find out!!😍❤️
