Mr Twistee got his first acupuncture session from the lovely Roxy and was an absolute champ, didnt bat an eyelid and almost fell asleep! 🩷
He also got his teefies checked which is always one of the very first things I do with our amazing OTT horses 👌🏼

So it's probably about time to introduce Mr Twistee - the latest wee 🍊 in the line of handsome Willowbank redheads 🧡
Anyone who knows me, knows how absolutely miserable & devastated I was to have to sell the orange pony I'd worked so hard to acquire... I'm not the same without my horses!
So in comes Twistee at a very inopportune moment.
Hes only 3 so has a lot to learn and a lot of growing to do, but he's very sensible and is very nicely built so watch this space ✨️
I'll be heading overseas soon so he can sit in the paddock and enjoy life for a while til I return!

Young horses are hard.

And not just in the ‘sit tight and hope you stay on’ sense.

Nobody tells you how hard it will be. How much you’ll question and second guess yourself. Am I doing this right? Am I going too fast? Am I going to slow? Is this too much? Is this not enough? You’ll rack your brain trying to muddle a way forward that you think is best whilst trying not to be swayed by the trainer down the road or the livery in the stable next door who side-eyes you every time you do groundwork.

Nobody tells you how some days you’ll really feel like a failure. How you’ll sit and wonder if this horse would be better off with someone else. You’ll convince yourself you’re wasting them or ruining them. After all, there are 4 years olds jumping young horses classes and yours is still struggling to trot a straight line.

Nobody tells you how dangerously attached you’ll become. This is your baby, you raised them, maybe even helped bring them into the world. Every bump in the road feels like a personal wound. You want the best for them so badly, it physically hurts when something goes wrong. You become fiercely protective of them too, pray for anyone who dares to insult this horse.

Nobody tells you how these horses aren’t just humbling, they are bury-you-on-your-ass brutal. They will highlight any and every flaw you have and shout about it from the roof tops. This isn’t to say they aren’t forgiving, but they have a real knack of bringing you down a peg or two and just reminding you that there is always still work to be done.

Nobody tells you how these horses will change you. They’ll make you take a long hard look at yourself and make you question everything you thought you knew. If you thought you had it all sussed before, this horse will quickly make you realise you didn’t. But they’ll bring out something in you that no other horse can, an untameable determination to show everyone what you saw in this horse from day one.

Nobody tells you quite how hard young horses can be, but anyone who has been there will know…

They may be hard, but they are worth it.

Black 16.5" Equipe mono flap dressage saddle - purchased brand new around 2017. Still in perfect working order just some usual wear and tear.
Has been adjusted to suit a wb cross, easily adjusted by saddler.
Was around $3800 new.
