Raising My 12 week old Malinois
Raising a 12 week old puppy is A LOT of work. But there are plenty of things you can do to make it easier.
1. Crate training- limit your puppy’s freedom to even begin practicing behaviors you don’t want in the future
2. Knowing how often he needs to potty. When he comes out of the crate-> straight outside. After playtime? Straight outside. Before back in the crate? Outside
3. Focus on his needs while he is out. This includes engaging play, exploring new environments to desensitize the world, little bits of training ans building value in me, confidence building, and passive relaxation practice. All things to actively build a well mannered adult dog 4. Anytime I cannot 100% supervise him, he’s in the crate to prevent the praceice of bad behaviors. This alwo encourages much needed nap time.

Every time you interact with your dog, they learn something about you. Namely, how they can act and what is allowed in your presence. Understanding this should change the way you go about everything you do with them. Dogs are opportunists and are constantly looking to better their own situation. Consider the following:> Can they break command?> Are there rules to follow?> Do they bolt out the door?> If you say, “no”, does it actually have meaning? These are just a few things to consider when looking at your relationship with your dog? And remember, if it’s not a no, it’s a yes.
This is the very beginning stage of teaching a dog what the heel position is and creating value in being there. Repeat this until it’s easy for your dog to do inside them generalize it to outside and other environments into your walk. #puppy #bernedoodle #heelcommand #heelposition #puppytraining #dogtraining #dogtrainer #atx
Management is prevention. Understanding what a dog is capable of and then working to never allow the freedom of that behavior to be manifested and practiced. #dogtok #dogtraining #dogmanagement #puppytips #atx #yikes #dogsafety #puppytips #dogs #dogtrainingtips
Teaching your dog the art of nothing is extremely underrated and overlooked by most owners who want to jump into teaching everything else. THIS is how to socialize your dog to the world. THIS is the first thing tour dog needs to master before anytging else #dogtraining #dogtrainer #artofnothing #dogs #calmdogs #stateofmindmatters #atx
Fearful dogs need our confidence and leadership to overcome things that scare them. If we just go with the dog’s irritional belief that they can’t jump into the car, and walk over new surfaces and drains…. How will they ever know any different? #fearfuldogs #dogtraining #dogtrainer #atx #confidence
Does your dog practice impulse control? Asking a dog to THINK before they act is major part in teaxhing them to make better decisions. Dogs instinctially act on impulse to survive, however, those impulses aren’t used to our world. So for safety, manners, and overall better decisions asking our dogs for smaller bits of impulse control helps trach them to think, be aware of you and not always act without thinking first. What are some ways you add impulse control to your dog’s life?
