Lagotto Romagnolos have an exceptional ability to "read" human emotions. They are known for their strong bond with their owners and are often described as being highly intuitive and empathetic. This makes them not only great working dogs but also excellent companions for families, as they can sense when their owners are happy, sad, or stressed and will often try to comfort them accordingly.🐶

The Lagotto Romagnolo breed is not very talkative 🐶
They might let you know what they are thinking with a few barks, but they are not very vocal dogs. They will alert you when needed, and maybe bark to tell you something, but for the most part, they don’t bark too much. 📣
How can you say no to this face?! You don’t! Our Lagotto Romagnolo puppies are pure bundles of joy. They will make your heart melt with those puppy dog eyes. 🐶💕

Nikolai- He is the male who started it all. He is our original male we brought over from Europe. He is very well mannered, gentle, and loving. He loves to swim in the pond and run and play chase. He also loves to play hide-and-seek. He is happy doing whatever his people are doing and is a great travel buddy.
Batler- We got Batler in 2020. He is the one who loves to run and play the most. He loves playing fetch and he loves making you proud. He waits on his "good boy" when he does his cool tricks. He is always ready to go on any adventure that comes up. He is the first one to greet you when you get to our property.
🐾Pup-Date 🐾
Dixie LaTerra spends many of her days traveling the US. She been to 15 states. She loves going there, swimming, riding the tractor or 4x4. She is Always content and at home no matter where she goes. In a camper, hotel, Vrbo ~ anywhere~she loves to go. She loves her ball and requires as many ball throws as she can wrangle out of anyone who will throw it. Some of her favorite places are: anything water, a puddle, ocean, pond, creek, or pool! She loves to be able to run off leash and explore. She loves other dogs, children, and her night night treats. She will run to her raised bed, in anticipation of her bedtime treat and even likes to pick which one she will get. She is one smart girl!

PUP-DATE 🐾🐶
Jetty will turn a year old on April 20th. She is a sweet girl and is doing well. She loves to swim in Smith Lake and go for rides in the fishing boat or golf cart.

We have had several people reach out to us lately and just want to share a little about us!
Shoals Lagotto is located in sweet home Alabama, on the banks of the Tennessee River. Taz Tillery, the owner of Shoals Lagotto, has always agreed with the saying, "Dogs are a man’s best friend." When he and his wife, Anna, were dating he always told her they needed to find the perfect dog for their family. Little did she know, he already had a plan in place. He had his mind and heart set on the Lagotto Romagnolo breed. After a few years, Taz set out to Europe to bring home a dog for his family. He came back with four. After the 13 hour ride home from the airport, the whole family was waiting to meet the new additions. From then on, the four dogs have made themselves at home here in Sweet Home Alabama.
In January 2020, we decided we had more love to give so we added Batler to our family. He fits us so well and was exactly what we were looking to add. After we got Batler settled in, the opportunity to get two more beautiful girls was given to us. After many months of waiting and anticipation, October 2020 we brought Dara and Lili into our family.
In 2023, we were given the opportunity to purchase the kennel that some of our other dogs came from in Europe. While this was a big undertaking, we decided this is what was best for the dogs and our family. We wanted the dogs to stay together and to know they would be cared for in the best way. They are now living their best lives here. They love to play with the other dogs and love exploring the property. Some have decided they like to play inside more and others have decided they like to play outside more. Let's face it, the dogs make the rules around here. 🐶🐾
🐶PUP-DATE 🐾
This handsome & very happy guy is Romeo, living in Charlotte, NC. His favorite things are playing with his best friend Mango, hiking, splashing in WATER (very close to figuring out the ice dispenser on fridge), & peanut butter. Also known to try and sneak a few laps of coffee if left unguarded 🙂

They don’t shed a lot and are hypoallergenic.
Lagotti have a medium-length, double, curly coat. If you want a dog with minimal shedding, the Lagotto is a good choice!
