Friday UPDATE After Diaphragmatic Hernia surgery he doesn't feel well (understandably) but Dr. Schreiber says he's doing well. He is not out of the woods yet but says if he does well over the next 10 days we should be VERY optimistic. Worries are blood clots and the fact that, even though young, he had this hernia for a while, moving everything "back where it belonged" was a pretty traumatic surgery so hopefully his blood flow and organs will all adapt and function normally. He sure loved the attention during our visit. The staff at D***s Veterinary Clinic are getting a little attached. He's a trooper! Thanks for your continued prayers.

Urgent help needed.
This sweet young cat is having emergency surgery today.
He has a diaphragmatic hernia in which occurs when an abdominal organ, like the stomach, liver, or intestines, moves into the chest cavity through a break in the diaphragm. This can happen due to a congenital defect or an injury, such as from a car accident. They cannot survive without surgery. The doctors will go in to repair the torn or ruptured diaphragm muscle and reposition displaced organs.
The survival rate for diaphragmatic hernia surgery in cats is 54–90%, but many factors can affect it. The surgical intervention time is a major risk factor.
This is a very expensive surgery but this sweet boy will be worth every penny. He is very loving and affectionate and deserves a chance to have a long life with a loving family.
We have named him Milagro (miracle in Spanish) and we certainly hope he lives up to his name.
A HUGE thanks to Safe Harbor Animal Coalition who rescued him and donated $400 towards this surgery. We need a lot more if anyone is in the position to help.
If you cannot donate, please keep him and the doctors and vet techs at D***s Veterinary Clinic in your prayers.
