Sunday 8-4-24 our beloved Jedi crossed the rainbow bridge. We came home from Oregon late Friday and Jedi had taken a turn for the worse that day. He was no longer eating or drinking. His breathing was bad and we could tell he had fluid. We had hoped he would get better but by Sunday we knew it was time. He was the last of our 3 Maltese. Jedi was 16 yo, had 4 teeth, and weighed 4lb. We will miss him a lot. He ruled the house. He is back w his brother and sister and feeling much better. Miss you little buddy. 💔

Did you know:
If you have a pacemaker, you can put it in your Will to have your pacemaker donated to a dog in need after you pass. Pacemakers cannot be donated to another human, but they can be donated to dogs with cardiac issues who would depend on it to stay alive.
You can have the pacemaker brought to a vet of your choice. So many of those get thrown away and dogs die because people don't know they can do this. It even saves the dog's owner the cost of the actual pacemaker which sometimes means the difference in being able to afford lifesaving treatment or not.

If you can see the white fur that’s Jedi. He is my personal dog. We have had him from a puppy. He is 16yo, blind, and deaf. Oh yea, he only has 4 teeth. He went to the vet this morning and is worn out. He also sleeps 23-24 hours a day. This is what Carleys Angels does. Dogs like Jedi get dumped at shelters all over the world just because they are old or have a lot of medical problems. CA will rescue these animals and vet them. Then we find permanent foster homes for them to live till they cross the rainbow bridge. We are always needing donations because we pay for their monthly rx and any vet bills. Please consider donating to our senior/hospice animal rescue.

Another of Carley's Angels' precious fur kids crossed the Rainbow Bridge early this morning.

Poppy was about 16 years old when she crossed. Her Angel Mom, Faye Lisi, has had Poppy since fall of 2020. Poppy was the light of her life, best friend, and companion. They were inseparable.

Please send your prayers of comfort up to our dear Faye. She is beyond devastated and is inconsolable over her loss of Poppy.

Thank you.
Cindy

Carley's Angels will be doing another donation promotion during football season (Oct - Jan) to draw for this gorgeous Vivian Alexander egg purse. It is embellished with black alligator skin, sterling silver, 14k gold, and .24 carat diamonds TW. Appraised at $5000. It commemorates the New Orleans Saints win. On 02/07/2010, Drew Brees led the New Orleans Saints to a 31-17 Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

We plan to draw for the purse around Super Sunday 2025 which amazingly is scheduled to be played on February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. How fitting is that!

All of our virtual adopters will automatically get tickets in the drawing. Currently, we need 4 virtual adopters for our most recent intakes. Keep pets inside: A startled pet may run away when fireworks are going off. Restricting them to the house for a few hours is best for their safety.

Keep them away from windows: Those loud noises raise anxiety in pets. Find a quieter spot for them.

Don't bring pets to fireworks displays: Not only can pets be overstimulated by crowds, but fireworks can cause damage to their sensitive ears and cause fear.

Find a distraction: Play soothing music or turn on the television for white noise to mask the sound of firecrackers. Providing a favorite toy or treats can also help reduce anxiety. Some people even use pet CBD to help calm their animals.

Tools for calming a nervous pet: For some pets, medication can help reduce stress and soothe nervousness. Non-pharmaceutical options, such as calming coats, can also be considered. Consult your veterinarian about medications and their side effects, as well as other strategies to assist your pet.

Make sure the pet has ID: Make sure your pet’s microchip and ID tag information has your current contact information. It’s the best way to get your pet safely returned should they get startled and make a run for it.

Keep alcohol and cannabis products away from pets: Cats and dogs can become dangerously intoxicated, leading to severe health emergencies such as respiratory failure, coma, and even death. Beer containing fermented hops and ethanol is especially toxic to them. Additionally, cannabis poisoning in pets can be severe if not treated swiftly.

No BBQ or scraps: Avoid the urge to feed your pets fatty barbeque scraps or foods intended for your guests. Some food can cause upset stomachs and may even be toxic to your pet.

Create a quiet, cool space: Stressed pets often overheat and a cooler space may be more comforting.

Find a distraction: Play soothing music or turn on the television for white noise to drown out exploding firecracker sounds. A favorite toy or treats also can reduce anxiety.
