Hotdoghill Sanctuary- a place for special needs dogs Hotdoghill Sanctuary is not a foster home or rescue group. We are a forever home for senior dogs, special needs dogs and hospice dogs located in Virginia.

Sanctuary residents are dogs who have lost their families and homes through no fault of their own. Due to their advanced age and various medical conditions, they have little chance of being adopted. But because of the wonderful work we try and do, senior and special needs pets are given a loving and caring home where they will be allowed to live out their lives in a secure, nurturing environment.

When you make donations those donations go directly to caring for the residents, for food, medical care and items that directly benefit the HDHS residents and not for Administrative or Operational expenses.

Today we said goodbye to Blaze. He has been the best poodle boy. He loves watching animal shows with grandma and barking at all the animals even cartoon animals. He was very devoted to grandma. He was never any trouble and even though he did not play a lot with the other dogs he fit in perfectly. Even at 14 he enjoyed his daily outing to the yard- sniffing all around and used his wheelchair perfectly. He will be missed so much. Godsp*ed handsome boy 💔❤️‍🩹

I have lifted that bed 100 times for Peanut and he loves it and will play with that ball by himself for hours.

Living dangerously, always in the dog yard. Thankfully the dogs have not encountered.

Blaze is snoozed out in his playpen. The rest are just hanging out some snoozing done watching.

Peanut don’t really want that ball he just does not want anybody else to have it

Hounds love blanket beds too thank you Dachshund Delights.

Peanut playing with toys. He has mostly guarded them all day. They don’t often play with toys anymore.

Remy at the vet this morning for eye check

Peanut gets to go out with me once a day to check the mail box. He is still on restriction of activities since his cervical disc surgery. He is doing good though. Getting stronger. He still will knuckle sometimes on his right side but immediately corrects.

Peanut is getting stronger everyday. Still some lameness and knuckling at times but he doing good very good.

Peanut this morning he is less steady. He is not able yo navigate the water bowl so we are working on getting water in this morning. He seems thirsty. He is worse this morning than yesterday afternoon. Yesterday morning he was perfectly normal. We have sent info to the vet.

Treated Blaze to a puppuccino this morning after his senior exam. He was happy boy. Grandma says now he will expect it every time he goes to vet or groomer 😂

Gibbs and Peanut wound up. Of course when I started recording they stopped.

Harper Lee says I’m outta here boys

Too much licking going on.

It’s very hot and humid here so we are having a lazy weekend. Gibbs and Peanut at play. Harper Lee happy it’s not her.

Harper Lee says Zeke needs a bath.

Pups napping

Katie loves her squeaky toys. She will be 15 next month. She has some dementia now. Mostly sleeps but never late to feeding times.
