Drac Malinois invites you to a protection workshop with .
Location near Leesburg, Virginia, January 11th/12th

Greg doesn’t need any introduction but just in case: multiple USA World team member , multiple podium placements at national championships, training / foundation helper for many dogs who showed successfully at national and world level. This year he qualified with two different dogs, a gsd and a malinois, for two world championships. 4 dogs and handlers from the top 6 dogs at the 2024 AWMA championship worked their protection foundation with him.

2 working spots are up for grabs. Current group will have priority for the next workshop in January. So if you are looking for a strong foundation or you are having issues with your dog guarding in the blind, Greg is a person to train with.
Audit spots also available.

Drac Malinois proudly presents our J’ litter:

Nati’s Empower Nyles IGP3 x Piper des Ombres Valereux

We are most grateful to Susan Miller for allowing us the opportunity to add Nyles to our breeding program. We feel that Nyles represents the epitome of the Malinois in IGP with multiple V scores in tracking, obedience and protection on both the national and world stages. Most notably, he is the current 2024 DVG National Champion, the 2023 AWDF National Vice Champion, and received 4th place at the 2023 FCI World Championship and 5th at the 2024 FMBB. His drive, desire to work, and overall presence on the field make him a phenomenal sport dog, but it’s his exquisite confirmation that confirms to us that Nyles is the complete package.

Nyles’ pedigree includes some of the top names in IGP including his sire, Cherokee vom Esadera (IGP3), a Bowie vom Clan der Wolfe son, and Carina Ajka Force Canina (IGP 3, FH), an Auzzy Ostraryka daughter.

Piper is a strong, solidly built female out of the 1st Sylvan Eidolon Akela aka Diesel (IPO3) and Nikki Bronson’s van der Mechelaar (IGP3) litter. She is Puck des Ombres Valeureux’s (IGP3) full littermate. We were glad to be able to coown her with Rich Waren when the opportunity presented itself. The Diesel/Nikki combination produced dogs both easy to work and to live with. Piper is a social female, dog neutral, with both excellent food and prey drive. She shares her brother Pucks strong, aggressive guard and natural fast and full strike. The handlers of our G litter with Piper have been very happy with how their puppies are working.
Nyles and Piper have all their OFA clearances clear, Embark clear and A22 clear.
We expect dogs of good bone, with excellent working ability, to both bring it in the field and still be able to enjoy home life.
Puppies are due Jan 4th. Reservation book is officially open. Working and sport homes only.
For more information and reservations reach out to [email protected] . Please write a short introduction about you when you reach out.

Well written post by The Discerning Dog.

Capacity limits potential.

Capacity refers to the maximization of inherent physical, mental, and behavioral traits that determine an animal’s potential and ultimately their suitability to different tasks.

Genetics lay the foundation for a dog’s capacity, as well as their suitability to specific roles given that capacity. Traits such as drive profiles, environmental soundness, and temperament are often influenced by hereditary factors.

Capacity is physical. Capacity for endurance, strength, speed, and natural jumping technique.

Capacity is cognitive. Capacity for trainability, memory, and problem-solving.

Capacity is behavioral. Capacity for drive expression, emotional stability, handler sensitivity, and recovery.

Even within the same litter, puppies inherit a unique combination of genes from their parents, leading to variations in capacity within different traits.

While genetics provide the baseline for capacity, environmental influences and training shape the realization of that potential. Training maximizes a dog’s innate capacity.

Even with strong genetic traits, untrained dogs may not reach their potential. Likewise, even the most experienced of hands cannot create excellence where capacity limits it.

Consider every individual trait as a drinking glass. Genetics determines the size of each glass. Training fills the glasses.

No amount of training can make a glass larger. The glass of a dog whose capacity in any given area has been reached in training cannot accommodate more.

Pouring into an already-filled glass will not make it hold more.

Capacity defines the upper limit of potential, while potential represents the possibilities within that limit.

Our jobs as working dog breeders, trainers, handlers, and enthusiasts is to be honest and critical in evaluating the capacity of our dogs.

Good training maximizes potential in good genetics. But good training cannot create what is not there to begin with.
